A healthy Derwin James type gets teams wins. A healthy one. Draft CB, RG, RT. and get lucky with the rest. Then...wait another year of misery and draft...
A few years of drafting is all that's needed.

      Darrisaw is ++ run blocker.
I agree about edge rusher and even cornerback being priorities. But there is no bigger priority now with HErbert than OL. Granted, said the same thing about Rivers for 6-8 years too!

But Telesco or the GM to be Riddick, Jeremiah - have four picks in the first three rounds. OL, Edge/CB and OL with those four picks. Period. End of discussion.

        ATM.

        Rd1 Clusta...Sewell. Parsons. Chase.

There will be a handful of Day 1 Starter OL prospects to choose from early Rd2.

This draft is deep at EDGE/CB.

Given the truncated '20 NCAA season, should we go risk-reward-value or sure thing clean prospect ?

For OL - I would be happy with two guys who start for 8-10 years. They don't have to be Quenton Nelson or Zach Martin elite - but good solid NFL players - maybe Dielman or McNeill level. Is that asking too much?

Edge - might go for the risk reward

We would outscore them with better defenders and a better DC. We are averaging 27.1 points a game with Herbert at QB and the defense is averaging giving up 27.3 points per game....most of that in the second half.

Its understood that we need both though in the trenches.

              Chicken or the egg.
Non stop, relentless scoring leads to good enough defense, even with gusD.
              New DC ?
              Change in scheme ?
              Growing pains.
I want a deeper, better rotation up front on D.
              Tillery, JJones must come on.
We must have impact at 3TECH.

I understand what you are saying about the Chargers defense - it does need some upgrades. But I just think with Herbert and the players they have signed for 3-4 more years, really try to build up that OL with draft picks. They have four picks in first three rounds - and who knows - if they trade down (thats something Telesco has never done) - maybe they get another 4th or maybe another 3 and you can really fill in some holes: 2 OL, CB, Edge, LB, maybe DT - thats six players right there.

I know this - TT or the GM doesn't need to draft RB with Ekeler, Ballage, Pope, Justin Jackson and Kelley on the roster
WR - I think they got enough

Get OL fixed like Indy did a couple years ago - 1st and 2nd round - your whole team gets better.

Few things are black and white to me
                  our direction is very obvious
we have a qb that can accurately hit any part of the field given enough time and health
That time comes with OL and weapons (and are further ahead on the weapons than Oline)
We should absolutely start trying to out score everyone starting next year
may not be until 2022 when we have a defense that can make us a true championship contender but to be it’s pretty obvious
                  1. OL
                  2. OL
                  3a CB
                  3B DL
                  .005 Brock Bowers, TE/HB/SR Georgia
.037 Braden Fiske, DT Florida St.
                  .069 Mike Sainristil, CB Michigan
                  .105 Brenden Rice, WR USC
                  .110 Mason McCormick, OG/OC S. Dakota St.
                  .140 Zak Zinter, OG Michigan
                  .181 Nehemiah Pritchett, CB Auburn
.225 Ainias Smith, WR Texas A&M
                  .253 Carson Steele, RB UCLA

                    LOL.
I am looking at big boards.
Yunno, who's going to actually be available to draft this year.
Shirley you cannot be saying we need to draft more Pipkins.
                    Campen needs more time.
This isn't your green and red Christmas jello setting overnight in da fridge, people.
The Trenchers had too much grog yesterday and last evening.

Growing pains perhaps. Look at the Rams. As pointed out by ghost, their new DC took over for Wade and have done a 180 degree turn. Basicaly the same guys with an add here and there. Their defense was terrible under Wade, now a top defense in the league.

Im ALL for getting rid of Gus.

You are happy with that group? Jackson wont be here most likely since he cant stay healthy. Pope is meh, hec they all are except for Ekeler. Kelly is a rookie but he isnt very impressive.

WR i think we need another playmaker. We dont have 3 really good WRs. If Keenan or MW both go down for a game, that group is kinda weak and it will be the Hunter Henry show.

                          Not literally of course haha
but assuming there is reasonable value, we need to get early draft prospects in here asap to compete with whoever the heck we retain in FA
I trust Campen and would reward his eye with more talent to work with
the defense will likely take a step back but really, James is such an X factor as is the DC situation that we can ask them to make do while we support our best asset in JH
                          JH changes everything
