    RIP Larry Himmell

    San Diego mainstay for years.

I used to watch that stupid comedy show he had in the mid 80's just to watch Biff and Skippy. I guess he used to cover the Chargers, but I don't really remember that (Might have been after I moved out of the area?)

I'll also always remember that crazy and amazing report he did on the fires in San Diego in the ashes of his own house.

    A Uniquely SD guy.

Rest in peace, Larry. I remember all of that too. I got to talk him about Biff & Skippy in Denver in 2008. He was such a nice guy & will be missed.

RIP. I didn't even know he was ill. I swear I saw him on the news within the last couple of weeks. Sad.

One of our local all-time greats, no question. I too didn't know he was sick. He was funny but he could do serious reporting too. His San Diego at Large show was a great show too. RIP.

I heard of his passing this morning. RIP, going to miss his casual news style.

The show was South Mission Beach. And the other guy (Skippy?) went on to be in the network show "Who wants to marry a Millionaire?). He was the millionaire and the girl dumped him about one second after the show ended.

RIP Larry, I always liked you.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

I was just coming over to post this... Glad to see someone beat me to it. Everyone should take the time to go over and watch the piece CBS did on his life and career in San Diego, brought back a ton of memories as we were a Channel 8 news family when I was in school.

Super good dude, and 35 year San Diego legend!

Great tribute. Great man. He will rest in peace. I have no doubt of that.

RIP. I don't usually comment much when somebody famous dies. But this is a bummer. Seemed like a good dude. Was definitely funny.
