In three weeks, it will be pretty clear if the Chargers even have a shot at the top of the AFCW... on the negative side, it could be clear after the next game.

I believe the league tells teams in playoff contention to send out those notices.

Happens every year.... actually good business move in part by Chargers! If we dont make playoffs they put the $ towards next seasons tickets. Works on me each year

I ran the playoff scenario generator, and even if they sweep the next 5 games, its still possible to only get the #5 seed. OTOH, winning the AFCW will probably snag a first-round bye. Winning the next three games will make it likely to get a wild card slot a a minimum.
