After reading this bio on Eberflus, he would not be a bad hire at all because he would be like SALEH. Best way I could put it is, he would be RUDY RUTIGER coaching but with massive success, & skills to add to his arsenal:
From his WIKI page: As a walk-on who willed his way to all-league honors, former Rockets coach Dan Simrell called Eberflus "as intense of a player as I've ever coached. He made himself great."[3

    Other highlights:

    2013 season[edit]
With Monte Kiffin replacing Rob Ryan as the team's defensive coordinator in 2013, Eberflus was integral in assisting the team's transition to a 4-3 scheme, alongside Rod Marinelli. Marinelli said he was impressed with Eberflus the first time he met him in 2013 in Dallas and credited Eberflus with the successful transition from Ryan's 3-4 defense to the 4-3. (So he knows two systems....unlike an unadaptable Gus.....so glad he's w/ the raiduhs!)

    2014 season[edit]
Eberflus’ unit continued to overachieve through an adversity-plagued season. Top player(s) went down
(This could be good for BOLTS who usually get injured alot.) Reminds me of SALEH.....this tells me he can motivate, teach.)

    2016 season[edit]
After being sought after for various defensive coordinator positions around the league, the Cowboys were able to keep Eberflus in house in 2016 and made him the team's Defensive Passing Game Coordinator, in addition to his linebacker coach duties. Eberflus helped the Cowboys defense boast the NFL's No. 1 overall rushing defense (83.5 yards per game) in 2016, and the No. 5 ranked scoring defense.

When you cont to read the bio, you will see how he takes undrafted free agents, and outcasts, draft picks and develops them into quality starters. His defenses keep improving! (Develops players, improves himself!) Wow, that's what I kept "wishing" for from Gus Bradley for years!!! (And Lynn.)

Coached under smart guy Jason Garret, Mangini (Part of Hoodie's "mafia"), Rob Ryan, Josh McDaniels hand picked him to be his DC when Josh was 1st chosen by the Colts to be the HC. As you know, Josh's mentor is Hoodie. (I'm sure he's learned how to identify good coaches from Yoda Belicheck.)

    More Highlights from Wiki:
Eberflus' improved the Colts rushing defense from No. 26 in 2017 (120.4 rushing yards allowed per game) to No. 8 in 2018 (101.6 rushing yards allowed per game). The Colts rushing defense allowed just 3.6 yards per carry, good for 6th in the NFL, and did not allow a single 100-yard rusher all season.[11]

Eberflus also improved the Colts' passing defense from No. 28 in 2017 (246.6 passing yards allowed per game) to No. 16 in 2018 (237.8 passing yards allowed per game), doing so with their number one corner, Pierre Desir, already having been waived by three NFL teams since being drafted in 2014, and Kenny Moore II, who was an undrafted free agent out of Valdosta State last season.[12] Even more remarkably, Eberflus accomplished such feats with a Colts' defense that ranked dead last in the NFL in defensive unit salary cap spend.[13]

Eberflus interviewed with the Cleveland Browns for their head coaching vacancy in 2019.[14] The Browns decided to hire Freddie Kitchens instead, who was fired a year later.[15]

If hired, hope he keeps PEP, & brings in Jerod Mayo. Check this out from WIki:

    Professional reputation[edit]
Mayo has a well-known work ethic that has earned him a reputation as a player who shows up early, stays late, watches film, practices hard, and puts himself through intense workouts in the team’s weight room.[16] Mayo’s positive attitude was highlighted in Michael Holley’s book “War Room”:
”Mayo had been a top ten pick who didn’t act like one. On draft day, when the best of the best are invited to New York, often wearing made-for-occasion tailored suits, Mayo had been home in Virginia with his family raking leaves. He was a worker there and a worker in Foxboro. In the off season, he’d come to the stadium and watch film, even when there were no coaches to be found. He loved the game, and it could be seen by the way he played middle linebacker, never turning down the opportunity to plug a hole or run sideline to sideline.”[17]

He outworked the coaches (Even Yoda Belicheck!)

Potential free agents from Colts D: BOTH DE starters Autry with 7.5 sacks and Justin Houston. Good to look at the potential HC's free agents from his team of origin. Eberflu's unit ranked #2 vs the run allowing 3.7 per carry. Staley's unit was #3 allowing 3.8 per carry from the Rams.

Really like Eberflus's intensity and attention to detail, the latter being extremely important for an HC( we all saw what a LACK of attention can do!)
As long as our new hire brings in good coordinators( and a GOOD Teams coach!) we'll be in good shape.

Guess which NFL team cut Desir and would probably like him back?

Ex Chargers Coaches with INTENSITY: BOSS ROSS, Shotty, Coryell

I watched the 17-0 Chargers beat down of the Chiefs when BOSS coached. (Miss him). Brent Musberger kept describing Ross's attributes - attention to detail being one of them. JASON MICHAEL is the Colt's current TE coach. Has had 2 yrs OC experience. Was Wiz's OC ! So, there could be continuity there (Steichen learned under Wiz too.) Whatever he's touched has turned "golden" too so you know he can develop players like Eberflus can. Mariota has his best year under him w/ a 95.6 QBR and a 29-9 TD-INT ratio when Michael was his QB coach in 2016. Ricky Seals Jones had his best year w/ Michael coaching TE's in 2018 at AZ. Indy was top 10 in rushing when Micahel started as their TE coach during his 1st year there too. SOLID SOLID coach..

HC Eberfuls. DC: Jerod Mayo. OC. Jason Michael QB (hope): PEP. They can bring in their ST coach.
FA's: DE Justin Houston (if cheap), Autry (7.5 sacks), TE: Ricky Seals Jones (steal some of Chief's ideas too). Use RSJ as 4th TE/WR. backup instead of Virgil Green. (ex WR in college). They also have 3 OL that are avail as backups.

The Spanos are waiting to be the last team seeking a head coach. Then they will have tremendous negotiating leverage over the remaining aspirants.
