Welcome Frank Smith Our New Run Game Coordinator

    https://www.boltsfromtheblue.com/202...-darren-waller

hell of a job with Waller last this season
Let’s take you out of those disgusting colors.

Interesting that this is one of Staley’s first moves, an offensive one at that!

Smith must be itching to get out of dodge to take the job not knowing exactly who the OC will be...
    or does he? Plot thickens....

When you have even Raiders fans wishing him luck going to the Chargers you know the man got skills. Gus Bradley on the other hand.......

This hasn't been officially announced yet, though, to my knowledge.

If you have a run game coordinator, then by extension you need a pass game coordinator? And if you do that, do you need an offensive coordinator? I know Frisco went the run/pass coordinator way and both guys got promotions, but Shanahan is an offense guy and probably does a lot of the lifting?

          The article also states:

"Anthony Lynn never had a run-game coordinator on his staff, so as things stand, the Chargers are not in a position to fire someone in order to fit Smith on their coaching staff."

I guess Lynn took care of the ground game himself...so, maybe NOW we know why he was so flustered on game day making all those awful calls...he was MULTI-TASKING...HC, run-game coordinator, ST coach...a jack of all trades...and a master of none...

I would hope we have an actual OC combined with run/pass game coordinators.
Ideally you have a hierarchy in place to develop a system of developing coaches to give you the flexibility to hire from within when possible.
just a few more bucks for a few made up positions, I’m sure Deano doesn’t mind, with all that he’s saving from not hiring Urban Meyer haha

All Raider fans know is that Smith looks a lot like Ken Whisenhundt. In fact, they think all of their coaches do.

That Wiz/Gus mix up was a perfect glimpse into the dumpster fire that is that organization. From ownership all the way down to the twitterers, it's a total shit show.

I think they gave Smith the title of "run game coordinator" because they had to give him a promotion to poach him from the Raiders since they can't just hire him to be TEs coach as that would be a lateral move for him.

He might "run game coordinator" in name only and probably will be more involved with helping our TEs and I'm totally fine with that. Staley starting off his hirings strong!
Tom Telesco’s Results in 9 years as Chargers GM:

                    - 69-74 record
                    - 0 division titles in 9 yrs as GM
                    - Worst record among all active GMs with same tenure
                    - 6th worst winning percentage among all active GMs overall
                    - 2 playoff wins despite elite QB all 9 yrs
                    - Team still has the same weaknesses (Oline and run defense) that it had when hired as GM in 2013
                    - Consistently puts together horrible depth, expects starters to never miss games

Probably part of a Spanos cost-savings initiative.

Who knows... maybe that was Lynn’s pitch, “if you hire me as a HC, you don’t have to fill the run-game coordinator since the run game is my forte” or he didn’t know the position existed
