Other than Bosa, Chargers have been really good about signing draft picks the last 5-7 years. This offset stuff seems simple enough, but I guess I don't know enough about it or I would see the big deal. Don't know what the Chargers are afraid of (cap hit for a bust?) but I do see what the player would be upset about. Wish NFL would just fix this and standardize it for all players like they did with the slotting. It seems to be the only hangup in recent history for teams and draft picks. Again seems like there is a simple solution.

Like, how am I a traitor? Your team are traitors.

This stuff really seems trivial as no matter what the team should be committed to the first rounder for at least the first three years no matter what. So we're really arguing about the fourth year of his 4 year contract. I'm sorry, Don't draft the player unless your confident of an 80% subjective success rate for any player in the first round. The only way I see this player as a bust is if he becomes an injury bust and these are not big ticket cost items in comparison to what "He May Bring to the Team!" LOL!

It’s only happened once before with Bosa under the rookie CBA.

If Bobby Beathard was still the GM we wouldn't be in this pickle. Bobby would have traded the first round pick for 3 or 4 picks in the 5 to 7 rounds.

Chargers 53-man roster projection before training camp

              Gavino Borquez
              July 26, 2021 4:00 am P

The Chargers begin training camp on Wednesday to prepare for the start of the 2021 season under the new regime of first-year head coach Brandon Staley.

There, roster spots will be won and lost at Jack Hammett Sports Complex in Costa Mesa, CA.

With that being said, here is my very early prediction for the team’s Week 1 roster.

              Misses the cut: Easton Stick

Running backs (4): Austin Ekeler, Justin Jackson, Joshua Kelley, Larry Rountree III

              Misses the cut: Darius Bradwell

              Fullbacks (1): Gabe Nabers

              Misses the cut: Hunter Kampmoyer

Wide receivers (6): Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Jalen Guyton, Tyron Johnson, Josh Palmer, Joe Reed

Misses the cut: K.J. Hill, Jason Moore, Austin Proehl, Josh Hurst

Tight ends (3): Jared Cook, Donald Parham, Tre’ McKitty

              Misses the cut: Stephen Anderson

Offensive linemen (9): Rashawn Slater, Matt Feiler, Corey Linsley, Oday Aboushi, Bryan Bulaga, Trey Pipkins, Brenden Jaimes, Storm Norton, Scott Quessenberry

Misses the cut: Tyree St. Louis, Nate Gilliam, Ryan Hunter, Kyle Spalding

Defensive linemen (6): Linval Joseph, Justin Jones, Jerry Tillery, Christian Covington, Breiden Fehoko, Cortez Broughton

Misses the cut: Joe Gaziano, T.J. Smith

Edge defender (4): Joey Bosa, Uchenna Nwosu, Kyler Fackrell, Chris Rumph II

              Misses the cut: Jesse Lemonier

Linebackers (5): Kenneth Murray, Drue Tranquill, Kyzir White, Nick Niemann, Amen Ogbongbemiga

              Misses the cut: Cole Christiansen

Defensive backs (10): Michael Davis, Asante Samuel, Jr., Chris Harris, Jr., Ryan Smith, Brandon Facyson, Derwin James, Nasir Adderley, Alohi Gilman, Mark Webb, Ben DeLuca

The offset stuff is very easy indeed if you are not the Chargers, then it's quantum physics.

Lack of truly deep ownership pockets seem to be our issue with.

5 ILBs is a lot. And Egbule doesn't even make the "missed the cut."
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

Egbule makes more sense as LB5 as he can fill in @ ILB, OLB, and ST with 2 years of experience on his side.
4 LBs and 3 QBs, or 7 WRs, or 4 TEs are viable options as well.
Have to see which fringe roster players step up in TC/Pre-Season games.

I was kinda shocked ol’ Borquez didn’t mention Goldwire in his “missed the cut” section.

                          What gives, Gavino?
