he also has chosen some really bad HC's..... hoping in Staley he struck gold, but time will tell, but he seems to have potential..... Next year will be huge because he should be able to add or keep the players that fit his schemes... and get rid of this who dont.....

Harris was a pure slot CB..... Hayward was an outside CB..... 2 different positions.... both are past their time
Add in the players he has traded up for. I get Lynn really liked Murray but he has traded up 4 times and the results are not good. So his instincts there are wrong

His 3rd and 4th round selections, when he makes them and doesn't trade them, are not good either.

Keeping Telesco, which they are going to do - is the definition of insanity or whatever that saying is - expecting different results but there is nothing to really show he will be any better.

Just to highlight the hit and miss nature of all of this draft business, I saw an article on 5th year option players due, yes or no. Out of 32, 2 were not even with their drafting team anymore (6.3%) then there were 14 "No's" and 16 "Yes's" per the article. Adding the releases into the No's puts it at an even 50%. That is exactly half of the first round of 2019 that they say does not deserve a 5th year option offer.

But yeah, being a GM in the NFL is a piece of cake.......

Actually, being an armchair GM with 20/20 hindsight is easy.

Totally agree. Hopefully the new coaches help with their input, last year’s draft/FA haul was mostly sound.

...or whiffed on tackles...or didn't stay in their lane...or took bad angles...

I think that was more coach speak than anything else; the question kind of forced him towards that kind of answer.

                        Upgrade, sure.....

If Staley was captain of the Titanic, after hitting the iceberg, he would probably say something like, "I say, old boy, we should be able to bolster up that minor hole and be on our way presently...now, where's my spot of tea?"
