Isn't Hill more of an Ekeler clone? Similar size, style, pass catcher?
I'm thinking we need a between the T's kind of guy, no?

Hill is about 215#. He does catch a ton of passes but has good vision, burst, and contact balance.

C Humphrey, CB Brown stand out at Sooners’ pro day … While much of the draft focus today was on North Dakota State where QB Trey Lance worked out, at least a couple of former Sooners had pretty good days at Oklahoma’s pro day in Norman. C Creed Humphrey, for example, ran the 40 in 5.09 seconds and posted 29 reps in the BP, while also recording times of 4.46 seconds in the short shuttle and 7.54 in the 3-cone drill, both of which would have been top 3 marks among OL at last year’s combine. Meanwhile, CB Tre Brown (5-10, 185), one of the top players at this year’s Senior Bowl continued to add to his resume by running in the 4.40 range, along with a 38-inch vertical, although his BP (13 reps) and shuttle times were somewhat below average for the position.

On the other hand, several other Sooners had to be a little disappointed with their pro day results. DE Ronnie Perkins numbers, for example, were okay as he posted a 4.71 40 clocking and a 4.69 short shuttle time along with a 32-inch vertical. However, pro scouts probably were hoping to see a little more quickness and athleticism from a player who is somewhat undersized for the position. At the same time, Brown’s fellow CB Tre Norwood, only clocked a 4.58 in the 40, had a 33-inch vertical, 12 reps in the BP and relatively slow times in the shuttles. At the same time, OT Adrian Ealy only had 18 reps in the BP and barely broke 5.40 in the 40. Same story for RB Rhamondre Stevenson whose 40 time was over 4.60 seconds while he posted only 15 reps in the BP and a vertical of 31.5 inches. If there was a saving grace for Stevenson its that his shuttle times were closer to average among backs at the 2020 combine.

NDSU QB Lance solid at pro day workout … North Dakota State Trey Lance had a solid, albeit sometimes inconsistent pro day workout in Fargo earlier today. No question Lance has arm talent; he has a quick, easy release and the ball just pops out of his hand. He also moves well in the pocket and throws well on the run. Lance went through a scripted 66-pass workout, but more throws than one would expect a top prospect throwing against air were a little off target. For those interested here is a video of every pass today. If there were any blemishes today, figure that interested NFL teams will see them. That’s because as many as 9 NFL teams had either their general manager or coach or both in Fargo today for Lance’s workout including include NY Jets’ G.M. Joe Douglas; Atlanta G.M. Terry Fontenot and coach Arthur Smith; Detroit G.M. Brad Holmes and coach Dan Campbell; Carolina G.M. Scott Fitterer and coach Matt Rhule; Denver G.M. George Paton; Las Vegas G.M. Mike Mayock; Minnesota G.M. Rick Spielman; Washington G.M. Martin Mayhew; and Chicago G.M. Ryan Pace and coach Mike Nagy. That group include 5 of the teams with the first 9 picks this year including the Jets who have the 2nd pick overall this year, while Atlanta picks 4th, Detroit 7th, Carolina 8th and Denver 9th. As we have noted in the past, often who attends a particular pro day can be as revealing as how the player performs suggesting that in general the league has a pretty good grade on Lance as teams generally don’t send senior execs, especially in the middle of a pandemic, to see players they don’t already have highly rated. It also didn’t go unnoticed that the team that appeared to monopolize Lance’s pots-workout time was Carolina. Bottom line is that Lance, who measured in at a solid 6-4, 224 but has somewhat smallish hands for a QB at just 9 inches, likely didn’t do anything to hurt his grade, but the jury is still out whether it was enough to push him any higher.

Meanwhile, Lance’s NDSU personal protector, OT Dillon Radunz also had a nice day today. Radunz, a late first, early second round prospect for the upcoming draft, measured in at 6-5, 304, had a 32-inch vertical leap, managed 24 reps in the BP, ran the 40 in 5.11 and had a very good (for an OL) 3-cone time of 7.27 which would have been the best number at the 2020 combine, although not every player necessarily participated in that event.

Let’s pause to appreciate that 3-cone time.

To add perspective, Tristan Wirfs, the most athletic OT in last year’s draft, ran a 7.65. Hunter Henry ran a 7.16.

Creed also beat Wirfs in the 3-cone.

As did Meinerz. But the only OT I can think of with a better 3-cone time than Radunz is Joe Staley (7.09).
