Specifically, Baratz says Bateman ran a hand-timed 4.37-second 40 and a laser-timed 4.39-second 40. The effort came on turf, but obviously it’s not the exact same turf as the turf at Lucas Oil Stadium, and NFL scouts tend to obsess over potential differences between surfaces when comparing times, as they should.

From Reddit so take for what it’s worth.....
There are also Reports that Caleb Farley, a top CB ran a 4.24 40 yard dash at 6’2 210~. He’s known for his speed, but that’s ridiculous.
Edit : A video was posted on Pro Football Focus Instagram of Farley running the 40, although they didn’t tell the time, Farley claimed he ran a 4.24 in the comments. Appears to be laser timed. Would be tied for 2nd best all time at NFL Combine.
The second thing you notice about Farley is that he can straight-up scoot. There wasn’t a wide receiver who got a step on Farley downfield last season that the cornerback didn’t makeup in a blink of an eye. That’s not because he was facing slow college receivers, either. Farley is a two-time honoree on Bruce Feldman’s annual freaks list, has blazed a 40 as fast as 4.35 and was reportedly clocked at over 24 miles per hour on GPS trackers during the Notre Dame game last season (2019).

I’ll be looking to see if laser or hand timed as well.My 2021 Adopt-A-Bolt List

Kansas Pro Day
Pooka runs well at KU pro day

Pooka runs well at KU pro day … Not sure if these are totally neutral results, but former Kansas RB Pooka Williams reportedly was timed in under 4.4 seconds for the 40 at the Jayhawks’ pro day on Friday, the first on the pro day schedule. Not sure who exactly reported the numbers but Williams was listed as having run the 40 in 4.38 seconds. That’s fast, but he’s also an undersized scatback type who only measured in at 5-8.5 and 175 pounds meaning he’s probably destined to be a 3rd down back, rotational type at the next level. Williams also posted a relatively quick 3-cone time of 7.02 seconds, but his leaps were not at all up to what one would expect from a 4.4 sprinter; indeed, Williams managed only a 31.5″ vertical and 9-10 inches in the long jump, both of which would have been among the 2-3 lowest figures at last year’s combine. Meanwhile, the only other results that appear to have been posted from the Kansas pro day are those for LS Logan Klusman, a legit FA candidate, who measured in at 6-0, 233 and posted a 5.13 40 clocking. (Note that both players have the same agent and it may have been the agency that dropped the numbers, suggesting they should be corroborated.)
Northwestern Pro Day
‘Cats’ Slater, Newsome shine at pro day

‘Cats’ Slater, Newsome shine at pro day … Still waiting on some official word from the Northwestern pro day today, but FoxSports reporter Stacy Dales (from just down the road in Brockville) is reporting via twitter that both OT Rashawn Slater and CB Greg Newsome, the Wildcats top prospects, had really good days. According to Dales’ reporting Slater measured in at 6-4, 304, posted 33 reps in the bench press and was clocked in an unofficial 4.88 seconds for the 40. Maybe the most important number for Slater, if verified, is the fact that he measured in at 6-4 as there were concerns that he might only be around 6-2, which probably would have hurt his potential to play OT at the next level. The one concern in that regard was that Slater’s arms are only about 33″ long which is a couple of inches shorter than what is considered ideal for an NFL OT.Bottom line is that Slater didn’t do anything to hurt his chances of ending up as a top ten pick this coming April, although it is worth noting that while the Wildcats’ pro day was reasonably well attended with at least five teams (Chicago, Minnesota, Green Bay, Las Vegas and Washington) represented by senior personnel people. However, none of those teams have top ten picks. In fact, of those teams Minnesota has the highest pick at #14, while the others are all in the back half of the first round.
Meanwhile, Newsome also ran really well with a final 40 clocking of 4.38. Newsome, who measured in at 6-0, 192, also posted an outstanding 40-inch vertical. All that has some people buzzing about Newsome as a possible late first round prospect for the upcoming draft.
Wisconsin Whitewater Pro Day
Small school OL shines at pro day

Small school OL shines at pro day … Wisconsin-Whitewater C/G Quinn Meinerz did not disappoint at his pro day workout earlier today. Working out outside on a field with piles of snow on the sidelines, Meinerz, who measured in at 6-3, 320, reportedly ran the 40 in under 5.00 flat while posting leaps of 32 inches in the vertical and 9.3 inches in the long jump. Both of the latter marks would have been among the leaders at the position at the 2020 combine.
Arkansas Pro Day

If there was one good thing to say about the Arkansas pro day, it’s that QB Feleipe Franks at least looked the part. Franks measured in at 6-6.5 and 234 pounds and reportedly ran well with a 4.65 reported 40 time. RB Rakeem Boyd, a slasher who ran for over 1,000 yards in 2019 but opted out early this past season, had one of those ‘shoudda stood in bed’ days. Boyd did measure in at a solid 5-11, 213, but barely eked out 6 reps in the BP, while posting a less than impressive 31.5″ vertical. And his 40 time could have been as high as 4.70. Also of note, veteran DT Jonathan Marshall measured in at 6-3, 310 and ran as low as 4.90 for the 40.

OT Van Lanen runs well at Badger pro day … Good on Wisconsin for at least posting the numbers from their pro day earlier today. Veteran OT Cole Van Lanen, the only Badger currently included in the GBN Big Board ranking of the top 200 prospects for the upcoming draft, had a decent day, with an unofficial clocking of 5.01 in the 40 with a 1.69 10-yard split. Both would have been among the top times at the 2020 combine. In fact, Van Lanen’s split time, if it holds up, would have been tied for the best figure last year. Van Lanen also had a pretty good, for an OL, vertical leap of 30 inches, but pro scouts had to be a little disappointed that he only managed 22 reps in the BP. Meanwhile, 5-tech DE Isaiahh Loudermilk, was clocked in 4.95 seconds in the 40 along with 21 BP reps; while safety Eric Burrell was credited with a 4.65 40 time and FB Mason Stokke with a 4.82. One Badger who pro scouts may want to go back and look at some old tapes is CB Rachad Wildgoose who played in only 2 games this fall, but did have a total of 13 pass breakups over the two previous campaigns; Wildgoose posted a 4.41 40 at the Badgers’ pro day along with a 36″ vertical, but managed only 11 reps in the BP.

Marshall likely won’t have anyone selected in the early rounds of the 2021 draft, but do have several later round/premium free agent types including a couple of veterans who would have been at the combine were it not cancelled. The pair that would have been in Indianapolis in late February included RB Brenden Knox and OT Josh Ball. Both had solid pro days. Knox, who ran for almost 900 yards and 9 TDs in just 10 games this fall, measured in at 5-11, 215, ran a 4.65 40 and had a 35″ vertical leap. For his part, Ball measured in at 6-7,5 and 308 pounds with 35″ arms; he posted a very respectable (especially for someone that tall) 28 reps in the BP and ran the 40 in around 5.20 seconds with a 1.90 second 10-yard split. Other former Herd players to work out included CUSA Defensive-Player-of-the-Year Tavante Beckett, an undersized (5-11, 220) LB with 4.75 speed, along with athletic DE Darius Hodge, who is a bit of an odd size at just 6-1, 248, but is very athletic; indeed, he posted a 4.67 40 time, along with a 38.5″ vertical and 26 BP reps. One final Marshall player to watch is CB Jaylon McClain-Sapp, who also isn’t all that big (5-10, 183) but ran the 40 in under 4.5 seconds and posted a 41-inch vertical.

Etienne impresses at Clemson pro day … Updating those reports from Jim Nagy of the Senior Bowl, at today’s pro day at Clemson. Tigers’ star RB Travis Etienne has had a very good day to date. He measured in at a solid 5-10, 215 and then ran a couple of 40s which were both timed in the 4.45 range. Etienne also had a good-enough vertical of 33″ and a better long jump of 10-8″. As noted earlier, OT Jackson Carman will not be working out today, presumably because of some kind of injury, an instead will do so at a private on-campus workout on April 15th. Carman, a second-day candidate, measured in at 6-4.5 and 317 pounds, but with only 32.5″ arms, which is less than ideal and could have some teams looking at him more as an OG prospect. At the same time, numbers are still incomplete but WR Cornell Powell has reportedly also had a really good day.
