It’s more about the offensive scheme that’s important. It has made average QBs look good, good QBs look great, and great QBs elite.

those are legal as long as the defender isn’t already engaged with another OL or TE so if we have a particular talent for it, why not?
my issue is that we risk being penalized through miscommunication or confusion from our OL or even from the defense.
Not to mention someone can get hurt.

                    Player Bio
Strong-bodied, heavy-handed, short-area mauler who anchored one of the nation’s most physical, productive rushing attacks. Has athletic limitations, but compensates with strength, smarts and competitiveness. Has the makeup to overachieve, and could increase his value by proving versatile enough to back up at guard.

                    Rounds 6-7
                    Overview
Started in 26 of 42 career games played. 2013: First-team All-Big Ten selection after starting in all 14 games. 2012: Honorable mention All-Big Ten pick after moving to center, where he started all 12 games. 2011: Played 10 games as a reserve at multiple positions. 2010: Played in six games. 2009: Redshirted. Misc.: Benches more than 500 pounds.
                    Strengths
                    • Stout base
                    • Works to re-anchor
                    • Jolting punch
                    • Strong upper body to latch onto and control defenders in short area
                    • Generates movement in the run game
                    • Understands angles and positioning
                    • Excellent weight-room strength -- bench-presses 500 pounds and squats a small house
                    • Smart and dependable
                    • Communicated all the line calls and checks
                    • Is tough and will play hurt
                    • Hardworking team captain with leadership traits

                    Weaknesses
                    • Has short arms
                    • More strong than explosive -- doesn’t roll his hips and blow nose tackles off the ball
                    • Falls off blocks when he bends at the waist
                    • Pedestrian foot athlete -- slow to cut off linebackers, labors to pull and lacks lateral quickness to recover when beaten
                    • Stressed by quicker rushers
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

Every offense in the league uses cut blocking to some degree, even the ones that don't use as much zone. Cutting off run pursuit on the backside and blocking in the screen game would be just about impossible without cut blocks.

Zone blocking relies on a lot more cut blocking than power and man schemes do. But EVERY team in the NFL for the last 20 years, plus almost every college and HS team runs at least some zone blocking, and it was really just Shanarat that was blowing people's knees out at an impressive rate.
