What OP wants is a RB who can cut and jump and has the vision and speed that a great RB does, but ALSO have the power to carry a defender or push a pile 2+ yards on 4th and 1. Those rare elite do-it-all-great RBs usually go Rd 1 but nobody wants to spend a first round pick on RB.

Caviar tastes, meet my cheddar cheese wallet.

I’m more of the NE model - put a solid OL T-to-T in place and the average dime-a-dozen RBs can get the job done.
“Less is more? NO NO NO - MORE is MORE!”

Or get to the point that where you've got a stacked O-line and then you can consider spending a first on a running back as the piece to get you over the top.

Maybe. I like Mason’s blocking TE and ST versatility. Leadership qualities too.

Turner the Burner was a very good big back. Didn't get the job done when LT went down.
Great young QB, solid OL ( we Should be strong at LG-C-RG where the run blocking is critical) we still need receiving threats at every level and quality depth at RB.
I would add a RB & WR from draft but leave who & when up to Staley..

Rhamondre is about #230. He’s not explosive but has nimble feet, dynamic cutting ability, and just kind of bounces off tacklers. Not a power runner but always goes forward with his exceptional contact balance. Like him more than most.

All of the chiefs backs have more speed and tackle braking power than all of the Chargers backs.

Chargers ONLY have a group of average speed smallish, injury prone, rotational backs...... The ex MIA RB we picked up off the unemployed scrap heap was far closer to being an every down RB than anyone we have had in years.... and he had the power to consistently get one flicking yard when needed......which none of our other backs can do consistently.....

Chargers definitely need to draft a big, durable starting quality tackle breaking RB...... Ekler is a good rotational back.... but not a starting or every down back.....

Ah yes, the RB so good that he’s called the ex MIA RB and is no longer on the team. But he did average 1.3 YPC less than Ekeler so at least he has that going for him. Ballage had the measurables but that’s about it. I’m not opposed to adding a bigger back to pair with Ekeler but a lot of bigger backs don’t run like bigger backs.

I’m pretty okay with giving our current gaggle of RBs a fair chance to run behind a real OL. I’m predicting an uptick with Kelly.

Maybe pick someone off of UDFA or waivers or 7th round. Jake Funk? Not a power back, but a good 1 cut zone scheme runner.

If it’s still an issue after the season, draft a guy in 2022.

I’m with you. Kelly had some early season fumble issues and Lynn gave him less touches because of it. Then the touches he did get he was so focused on not losing the ball he wasn’t running it the same way he was with his early season success. We also have Bradwell still sticking around as a more power back option I believe. I have no problem going into the season with our current RB room. Now if Harris or Etienne were there at 47 and TT went that way I wouldn’t be upset about it either.
