Eke's is an elite #2 RB and one of the best in the NFL in the passing game. You simply team him up with fresh big RBs every few years.

Don't get me wrong Eke's is supper talented but he is not going to dust those 6-7 yards fourth quarter runs consistently that breakers the will of the defence late in games or give us a back to run the clock. Neither is any of our RBs on the roster as evidence visit last year's game tapes.
      Go Rivers!

Wish we had Mike Alstott in his prime.

I guess things HAVE changed. Tampa Bay won the SB while being near the bottom in overall rushing attempts.Their yrds. per rush was decent. Something like 4.83 yards. per carry. The Chargers? A lot more rushing attempts but 3.83 yrds. per. Somewhat near the bottom in that regard.

Chargers RBs would have averaged around the same behind Tampa’s OL.

That seems more like an OL issue than a RB issue. Running effectively when everyone knows you're running and trying to stop you is about controlling the LOS.

Eke has always inpressed me as a eunner too. Good balance, good vision, works through contact and plays big. Issue is durability. Lets see if Kelley can give him a spell if we actually block.

This very well could be. My sense was that Linn ran more power and those drafts were more in that vain yet Eke was still the best option. In an outside zone scheme he could be a three down back I do not know. Was thinking the scheme change may dictate a new back to complement Eke's

I get the feeling Staley likes versatile backs. Eke is perfect. He's a little smaller than Kamara but has better underwear olympics numbers across the board. Previous coaches didnt fully use him right.

Really impressed at the Senior Bowl.

Is he even fast enough to get down the field on special teams to contribute? There are Lineman these days that run faster than him.

He’s certainly not a gunner if that’s what you mean. But on covering kick-offs and punts, guys like Mason are coveted for their nastiness in the middle, blasting fools who try to set up return lanes. He’s a wrench in the machine.

I don't see much of a spot for him in the NFL. You have to figure that's his timed pro day. He's even slower than that time. There has to be more athletic options.
