People are excited about the picks and finally having a coach (we hope) that can develop them. It is the time of year to be optimistic, not nitpick every tiny flaw because the team valued a player differently than a poster did.

It doesn't even take into account scheme fits let alone the fact that individual teams will have a wide dispersion of values on players.
When the safety was BPA he was also the BPA for 8 to 10 teams in front of us. They all had an opportunity to draft him. How are you considering Herbert a Faller QB last year? Hell they were more than a few draftniks and board members that thought that he was a surefire bust and GM killer. Many here were extremely angry at the pick last year. As for Slater, there were several opportunities for other teams to take him. They chose not to. They valued other players higher. They were many people talking about needing to trade up to get Slater. As was stated by both our GM and Coach once he got past the 8th position they had a good idea/odds were highly increased that he would be available. There's a lot of work that goes into what you're calling luck.
So the trade-up option was never an issue...they scouted other teams interests well.

I can’t wait for Sewell and Slater play an NFL snap and see who performs better. I’m just curious if it would have been worth it to move up and sell the farm to draft a “generational OL talent” like Sewell.
