true, and the thought is that he could well spell the either of Tranquill and/or White.... does he have any pass coverage skills ??

    edit.... he don't,

They’re gonna groom Niemann for that role.
      Let’s let Rumph be Rumph.
      He’s an edge defender.
Our quarterback is a golden god.

I have the feeling Staley will take care of this a LOT better than Gus...
We don't just need edge depth. We need pass rushers in general. Bosa and Rumph can both add in snaps inside, as well as outside. We need multiple rushers on the field who can get after the QB. Nwosu, Rumph, Bosa, Fackrell, Tilery? Jones? The more the merrier.

NO rusher, no matter how good they are, can rush hard for a whole game. No matter how hard you train, there are limits to flesh and blood.

Bosa looks like he needs more snaps off because he rushes hard on every one and hustles on every play (or very, very close to every play). He plays hard on run downs and pass downs, only on run downs, the chances of forcing big turnovers, or getting big losses behind the line are pretty slim. More rush guys means a better chance of one or more beating the OL on any given play.

Yes cardio. I do t see Aaron Donald or Khalil Mack get winded like Joey does. They also fight double teams and go all out every play.

Jamrock my friend. Let us end all this Bosa cardio BS.

Bosa (549) snaps vs Donald (865) snaps in 2020.

Bosa 7.5 sacks, 29 solo tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 27 QB hits

Donald 13.5 sacks, 27 solo tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 28 QB hits.

Bosa is putting up Donald numbers in 300 less snaps AND less help on the D-line.

Joey was dealing with some nagging injuries on top of everything else.

Getting more edge rushers has been addressed. How about on the inside, the interior? Tillery is the only one who can pass rush in the middle. Bradley and Lynn used him on the edge last year which was not a good idea. I called out on this before Staley talked about it in one interview where he said JT was moonlighting. The team needs more than Tillery for pass rush on the interior. Jones and Joseph are limited in their pass rush ability, that has been shown and contributed to the team's struggles. The guys that Staley has in mind from UDFA are the hope to improve things there.

Rumph is an Ingram replacement if he lives up to what he is expected to be. Ingram had a fall from glory. But even before that, the team was lacking in pass rush depth under Bradley and Lynn. That was constantly a problem under them.

Bosa's backup was Rochell. The team didn't keep him, and that is a good thing. He was originally a DT in his rookie season, but switched to the edge position. Rochell was slow, he didn't have the speed needed to be successful on the edge. This was a problem for 3 years. Then there's Nwosu who has been mentioned. He's either hit or miss (no pun intended), he's too hot or cold.

I notice the team isn't bringing in Square back. I should praise Staley for this if he keeps it this way. Square needs to stay gone. He was another factor in the team's lack of depth in pass rush. He was a hinderance to how much better the team could be on the D-line.

To add to what you said about Bosa needing more snaps off, he could use it in order to stay healthy. After the last two seasons disaster, this board is finding out that the you cannot have enough pass rushers statement is not a myth.

More rush guys means Bosa can take some downs off as a decoy. He fights thru double teams seemingly every other play: that has to be tiring.

Key point is really les DL help imo. He needs more partners or the DL overall will remain a point to attack and he will continue to see 2 blockers on most plays and 3 blockers on some when the RB is held in to block and he’s the only guy with a bolt getting anywhere near the pocket.
