Player Bio
The Niemann family knows football. Nick's dad, Jay, is an assistant coach for the Hawkeyes after coordinating defenses at Northern Illinois and Rutgers. Nick's brother, Ben, is a former Iowa linebacker who now suits up for the Kansas City Chiefs. As a redshirt freshman, Nick played in all 13 games as a reserve (five tackles). He started five of 11 games played the following season (43 tackles, 2.5 for loss), missing two because of a leg injury. Niemann started eight of 13 appearances as a junior, making 32 stops, 2.5 for loss, and returning his lone interception for a score. Big Ten coaches named Niemann third-team all-conference after his senior year (team-high 77 tackles, 2.5 for loss, in eight starts). -- by Chad Reuter
Analysis

NFL Analyst
Overview
Long, rangy linebacker with excellent speed and quickness but might need to pack on more muscle for the NFL game. Niemann plays stronger than he looks and with good core power. He understands how to use his hands and angle to improve his chances against climbing offensive linemen. He has the range and agility to flow from sideline to sideline but needs more reps to fine-tune his feel for blocking schemes and misdirection. He was a little disappointing in coverage and might not have much passing down value. Niemann has the talent to play in the league and should be a core special teams performer.
Strengths- Big-time pro day tester.
- Stays square while scraping to the action.
- Drops shoulder to work under the block.
- Displays good fight against bigger blockers in space.
- Snaps sharp punch to gain early separation to shed.
- The hole is closed when he steps deep inside.
- Sure-fire tackler who finishes what he starts.
- Long and rangy to take down shifty runners.
Weaknesses- Needs more mass on his thin legs.
- Recognition of blocking schemes will need work.
- Overactive to eye candy and pulled out of position.
- Comes in a little tall as a finisher.
- Very little ball production in coverage.
- Not always aware or fluid in space.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
The Wasted Decade is done.
Build Back Better.

Another player with a Dad who is a coach. Telesco went for people that he
1) Sr Bowl
2) Dad was a coach or player
3) his staff or STaley's staff had insights
Popper nailed it with his mock draft. Good special teams player - what more do you want out of a 6th rounder
