With Lynn and McCoy it always seemed a boilerplate “we’ll get them in here and have them compete and see what happens”. Honestly I’m wishing we were on Hard Knocks this year just so I can see Staley with this team in TC.
Different sport, from the NBA - Erik Spoelstra.
Spoelstra grew up around the NBA, kind of a hoops junkie. Did have connections with his Dad to get the Heat internship. But just a bright coach. You are right - he talked each players skillset and how used. HIs comments to Nieman about his wife and than the question about the draft in Cleveland and the Gibbons coaching family of Ohio. He knows a lot, retains a lot, able to communicate that.

How after each loss, Knox would run to the entrance of the locker room and look each player in the eye as they came in.
He wanted to see if each player gave it their all that game.
That's commanding respect.
Staley isn't there yet. He studies player's skills, dialogues with them, & generally puts them in good positions to succeed.
Jaylen Ramsey liked how Staley put him in multiple positions in the Ram's secondary - something he always wanted to do.
They like and respect him.
Let's not get carried away.

I still like the idea of bringing in Sherman
He is cognizant of that being an apparent weakness,
and one we did not address in the draft.
There are under the radar players he likes,
indicating by name Fehoko, Broughton and Gaziano.
Our DL UDFAs were Merrill, a flat out 0TECH,
and Goldwire, of unusual length for a NT.
I agree with Popper, who says we will carry over
our remaining cap room.
We are set.
Sherman would be nice though !We do not play modern football.

Our starting 3 DL Jones, Joseph, Tillery have well suited skillsets for the base D we’ll be in about 20% of the time.
I like how Staley has used a variety of fronts in his multiple sub packages previously.
I want us to have a solid rotation with our Dline and EDGE players to keep fresh legs and heads.
I currently like our Dline group with Broughton, TJ Smith, Fehoko, and Goldwire battling for roster spots/reps.
TJ Smith and Goldwire are long, stout, with passrush upside.
Broughton is an explosive disrupter who should excel in sub packages.
Fehoko is all grit and motor.
If we sign a vet to compete all the better. My 2021 Adopt-A-Bolt List

He graded very high for SF last year.

One of the things I like most about Staley and the players like most about Staley is that he listens to his players for input. He believes in a collaboration. It's not you're going to do it this way because that's the way we do it and we've always done it. Go back and listen to that online discussion he had with Chris collinsworth and Richard Sherman. It's actually one of the reasons why he was so effective with in-game adjustments. He actually emphasized that that was a big reason why he was so successful with that defense in the second half of games with the Rams last year. Player input.
