Neighbors

So I had a new Neighbor (Todd and his Family) move behind me a few months ago and we've hung out and chatted....He's an artist and is always in his garage doing work, So I usually shoot the shit with him and check out his projects. So today he was showing me a few art lithographs of a mural he painted in Orange County, And while checking out his piece, I noticed his signature in the corner and it was signed Marinovich......I paused for a second on his last name, While doing the math in my head, I put 2 & 2 together and a light bulb went off in my head.... Dude ! I've been talking & hanging out with Todd Marinovich this whole time. I didn't tell him because I figured it would of been a weird vibe.

But anyways...He's doing good and is a great artist and is always painting or working on projects..I've watched the Todd Marinovich ESPN 30/30 documentary story on him and he definitely has had an interesting life. The dude had talent and it sucks that we never got to see what he could have done...Atleast he's happy and is doing good

It was a Trip, And I thought Id share this with you guys...I figured some of you would appreciate it

His 30 for 30 was great. Its sucks how it all ended but It's nice to hear his living well. Instead of dying young over drugs.

He always seemed to me to be a pretty good dude who was thrust into an environment (by his father) that he really did not want to be a part of. I am sure he got something out of football but I don't think he ever wanted to be a football player. Good for him that he found his groove in art or whatever, I mean isn't that what we all want out of life? We don't all want to be pro football players...

His dad was a kook. Teething him on raw liver as a baby, not allowing him to eat Big Macs as a kid (even though he supposedly ate them behind his back), it's no wonder he ended up all messed up on drugs and even did a stint in prison. Despite all of that he still made it to the NFL and even played a playoff game. Glad he overcame that.

Maybe in the end he avoided CTE and is living a fulfilling life. Glad that he appears to be happy, and also good that you have a neighbor that seems like a cool dude.

Someday I'm sure the subject of his playing days will come up, and those will be cool conversations to have.

I'm glad things worked out for him too.....his Dad though well meaning was just too much....I read his mom filed for divorce because she couldn't stand to watch it anymore..

On a side note my best friend in High School had the same experience but on the "Academic" side of things. His dad rode him hard from day one, he pushed for advancement bypassing 4th grade to go to 5th.....when he finally went to College ( top private college ) he bombed out right away and never went back
