I like our WRs. We have 10. We'll keep 5 - 6. Four or five will be cut. One or two moved to practice squad.
I have Keenan, MW, Palmer as locks. (3)
    Guyton, T-Billy (1 or 2) Speed.
    Everybody else (1 or 2)
Training camp - pre-season will be big for the depth. Special teams will be some body's ticket to the 53.

We have size, speed, elite route running, RAC ability, toughness, and the ability to consistently win contested balls.
With our new Saints infused passing game personnel groupings it will be tough to stop with JH10 having more consistent protection.
Its’s going to be a very exciting year ahead.
My hope is that the WR that is cut on the way to the practice squad or being picked up by another team is K.J. Hill. Palmer can stay as our #5 WR. Reed can be our #6 WR, a return man, and he just might be able to offer some snaps at RB if Lombardi is creative in his play calling.

The concern that I have had from moment one following the selection of Josh Palmer is that someone would have the not so bright idea of playing him and that that would take snaps away from either Guyton or Johnson, both of whom are players that fit really well with Herbert's skillset.

I share the opinion that this WR corps is a lot better - deeper - than is generally regarded. I believe Tyron Johnson is going to have a breakout season and will exceed MW in performance. The dude has elite speed, the ability to track the deep ball, and is gutsy with great hands and is fearless going for the ball in a crowd. He really advanced his route running last season. Then you you have MW, then you have another young phenom in Guyton, who, as noted, had some drop issues, but was a playmaker more than a few times and has good chemistry with Herbert. After those four, you get to Josh Palmer, who reminds, for some reason. of a young Chris Chambers. Then you have Joe Reid and KJ Hill, both of whom I believe have NFL talent. But there may only be room for one of them on the roster. Then you have the son of Ricky...where does he fit?

So, yeah, count me as bullish on this WR group.

Called it last summer. Saw it in camp and was not surprised he made it on to the roster.

I think this kid makes it. It's a tough group to break into but I think with a little polish to his routes (mimic Keenan kid)... he will stick around. Having speed doesn't hurt. He can catch too from the little I've seen during camp. Catching from Taylor and Herbert is a clue.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z542mgb9SiA

            To be a tad contrarian...

The one thing the Chargers don't seem to have is the ultra quick slot type receiver. I think of guys like Tyreek Hill, Cole Beasley, and the newly drafted guys, Jaylen Waddle and Kadarius Toney.

Traits: Ultra shifty, jitterbugs after-the-catch, in-and-out of routes with such violence that they break db's ankles.

I'm not as familiar with all the Chargers receivers as some of you, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

Ekeler is that type of receiver but takes the majority of his snaps @RB.

Jaylen Guyton, Joe Reed, and Austin Proehl are the others that have slot traits.
Guyton and Reed are explosive, superior COD agility, speed merchants, RAC specialists with Reed having elite contact balance and better hands.
Proehl is a long shot with his size and lack of blazing speed.

Yeah i really like Johnson. Guyton needs to focus on the drops. But both are young. We are pretty good about developing lesser known DBs and WRs. Have to hold and continue with their development.

I love Palmers route running. Ball awareness and catch radius is on point as well. Probably puts up big numbers in college on a team with a QB.

Got it. I was confused as I thought we were discussing WRs not DBs.

Herb has *always* had a huge arm, and been smart. This year? He gets hugely upgraded protection. It boggles the mind to contemplate the degree to which he might upgrade his efficiency AND productivity with an 80% upgraded line.
