    All Chargers Dream Team

We're in the NFL doldrums... a period of inactivity between the last preseason game and the first regular season game.

With a week still to go things feel slow as ever. Show me your All Chargers Dream Team. You can set the rules how ever you want for your squad.

Here's my 22 man roster of only drafted Bolts:

    FS Eric Weddle
    SS Derwin James
    CB Quentin Jammer
    CB Antonio Cromartie
    ILB Kenneth Murray
    ILB Junior Seau
    EDGE Joey Bosa
    EDGE Leslie O'Neal
    DT Ernie Ladd
    NT Jamal Williams
    DT Lee Williams

    LT Marcus McNeill
    LG Kris Dielman
    OC Nick Hardwick
    RG Louis Vasquez
    RT Rashawn Slater
    QB Drew Brees
    RB LaDainian Tomlinson
    TE Antonio Gates
    WR Lance Alworth
    WR Kennan Allen
    WR Vincent Jackson

Some of these guys are still pure potential.

    replace:
    Cromartie with Byrd
    Slater with R. Washington
    Brees with Fouts/Rivers
    Derwin with Rodney Harrison
Lee Williams with Kelcher or Johnson
Kenneth Murray with yikes Donald Butler
Bosa with Dean (although that might change soon)

current Chargers who might make (or have made) all time team:
    1. Herbert
    2. Derwin
    3. Keenan
    4. Slater
    5. Bosa
    6. Murray
    7. Samuel Jr.
    :stirringshit:
    8. Josh Palmer

    * technically, Dielman was not drafted by the Chargers

Gill Byrd for Jammer I'd agree with. Peak Cromartie is too good to pass on.
      I forgot about Russ. Yep
Kelcher over Lee Williams? Hmm, I don't know. Williams had several years with double digit sacks.
I'd still stick with Derwin, Bosa, and Murray.
Good catch on Dielman, but his first team was the Chargers. Same with Gates right? UDFA's are close enough.

        RT Rashawn Slater
        QB Drew Brees
        RB LaDainian Tomlinson
        TE Antonio Gates
        WR Lance Alworth
        WR Kennan Allen
        WR Vincent Jackson
Lets start with all of the HOFers/probowlers from the past:

FS Glen Edwards (Derwin James if he stays healthy will be the best or among the best at either safety position)
        SS Rodney Harrison
        CB Willie Buchannon
CB Mike Williams (great shut down CB no one ever knew about because no one threw his way)
        OLB Woodrow Lowe
ILB Kenneth Murray (has potential but has not done anything yet)
        ILB Junior Seau (HOF)
        EDGE Fred Dean (HOF)
EDGE Leslie O'Neal (Bosa may pass one of these but has not played long enough to do so yet)
        DT Ernie Ladd
        NT Jamal Williams
DT Gary Johnson (by far best interior pass rusher we have had)
        DT L. Kelcher

LT Russ Washington / Jim Lachey (he might have been the best but was traded away so early in career)
        LG Ed White
        OC Donnie Macek
        RG Doug Wilkerson
RT Ron Mix (HOF) (Slater has a chance to move into this group, but has not done anything yet)
        QB Fouts (HOF)
        RB LaDainian Tomlinson (HOF)
        RB Muncie
        RB Brooks
TE Winslow (HOF) (he is best all time TE and could also play ST's, he was deep safety in prevent, and had a cannon for an arm as an option or emergency QB) and close 2nd is Gates who will be in HOF too.
        WR Lance Alworth (HOF)
        WR Chalrlie Joiner (HOF)
        WR Wes Chandler
        WR John Jefferson
(all of these WR's and TE's are better than what we have now)

WRs should include Alworth and Joiner for sure; maybe Chandler
I never saw Alworth but I have seen the last 40 years - nobody has been a better wide receiver than John Jefferson
Not saying he should be on the list - just saying he was amazing

I agree that Mike Williams was underated
          Woody Lowe was solid
Gary Johnson, Fred Dean and Big LOuie Kelcher

I’d love to see Staley’s defense with Derwin and Rodney as the two high safeties. Jamal and Igor would be fun, too.
Our quarterback is a golden god.

Little known fact, Lance Alworth was originally drafted by the 49ers and the Raiders, but Al Davis, who was an assistant coach/GM made a deal to get his rights from the Raiders.

Seriously? Slater and Murray on your dream team? I know they are highly regarded but a rookie and second year player on a dream team? Our history is sad.
Vasquez? Lee Williams and no Kelcher?

I wasnt going to participate in this thread at all but geez.

Aside from 2006/2007, Cro pretty much underachieved as a Charger.
A first rounder that left after year 4,
this is why Antonio Cromartie has no business being on any all-time Charger team list

Jammer was the better CB between him and Cromartie. More consistent in every area except TOs. Most importantly in effort and tackling. He also went up against the better WR compared to Cro.

Yup. He managed to piss off the entire locker room because of his cowardice.
