Goodell, of course, works for the owners.
Funny since there are many Raider fans who don't like Gruden as their HC. They set up a website countdown called isgrudengoneyet.

      Raiders Suck
      Chiefs Suck
      Broncos Really suck

Sunday is a big game for many reasons but AFC record and tiebreaker. I think I joked on here after week 2 - Okay I will give up the Cowboys game to get 4 AFC wins before the bye. 3/4 of the way . Finish it off with 4 for 4
Not that big of a deal, just keeping it focused as we go too far off topic, it get real hard to get it back in.

A week ago, one Raider Nation faction put forth two possible options:
        one was moving forward to an ordered, yet uncertain future with John Gruden;
the other was a complete collapse into the bedlam of the last 20 years.

Raider Nation chose bedlam and a reversion to their primitive piratical order, with the pirate captain periodically placed in darbies and
cast over the starboard port, into a strong leeward gust of the Autumn wind.

        Aye maties!

Not sure where the Raiders actual news is in all of this…pretty normal season for them so far.

Gruden certainly acted like a pirate captain the last decade.

Any concern out there that the raiders hire a good head coach
inspired perhaps from our own Brandon Staley?
I can see Staley's hiring changing how HC hiring is done generally.

I was thinking of that today. I wonder if Mayock would be safe

Bowles Daboll, Bieniemy - maybe Kellen Moore

I think Staley's biggest asset, more than analytics and people skills - he seems to be able to "teach football" - he has a vision about concepts and the game and is able to pass that to the players. Plus he seems to game plan for the opponent and able to adjust as the game goes.

I think just like franchise QBs, good HCs are not dime a dozen. I want them to try and fail a couple of times

Its a good question. It's a copy cat league. They don't need to make this decision now, but my guess is that Mark Davis will lean to someone that already has an association with the Raiders already, maybe someone previously a Raider coach, or player, and probably someone approved by the Fritz Pollard alliance. That's more important than than the method to winning games. However, if Mayock is truely given a chance to pick his own coach, that trope might be broken to find a good coach first, with or without those analytics. Mayock and Davis can interview anyone they want now, not currently coaching in the league, but I think they will be very comfortable with Bisaccia if he wins games (but still will have to interview a minority coach.)

Remember that we were an attractive destination for coaches because of Herbert and cap space. Last year we were consistently 1st or 2nd best destination for coaches (JAX being the other). I don't think they're gonna get a long term candidate in season and offseason who knows how attractive they'll be.

Also, Raiders now have an excuse for the meltdown they were going to have anyway.
