PFF breakdown of week 1 tendencies of the Fangio tree

Examining Vic Fangio's coaching tree, including Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley, to see how they fared schematically in Week 1 of the 2021 NFL season.

Staley is last but interesting in how he's diverging.

Great read. Tons of important information.
Staley is the genius mad scientist of NFL coaching. His defensive creation will be opponent scheme specific and continually adaptive. The “Jeet Kune Do” Defense.

Kyzir White also did great in the slot in split safety looks.

These type of hybrid safety/LB swiss army knife LBs may become more important in Staleys scheme to provide diversity.

Especially since the Chargers are thin at safety. They really need Adderley to up his game.

This is a very interesting perspective of Vic's defensive back play. Worth your time. Goes into 3/4 OVER and 4/3 UNDER concepts as well.

Jeet Kune Do was basically superior offense as both your defense and offense interchanged within milliseconds. Second thought.......Jeet Kune Do Defense it is!!!

It will be an considerable improvement this year and I suggest it will really crash all over the NFL next season.

By 2022 the players will be natural in the scheme, and we will have had a draft and FA to fill in the specific type of players Staley wants. Money so spend this offseason!

                :troll:

Staley, the most fearful variant to date.

Thank you Equivocation! Great article. It tells me that the copycats are still lagging behind and that Staley is not just tweaking Fangio’s defense, he is revolutionizing it. I bet he can do the same with the Peyton offense that Lombardi brought.

Staley is likely from a multiverse where the Chargers won 12 SBs. He ended up in our universe and decided to intervene.
