After the loss, lots of questions if the Chargers really have changed much from the past... Power Ranking blurbs:

The Chargers have shown much-improved defense with Brandon Staley, but their linebacker and smallish front concerns showed up against the Cowboys' running backs. Justin Herbert is doing his best to sophomore shine in the offense, but there are a few frustrating mistakes coming in the transition period.

Justin Herbert is still a young quarterback, something that gets forgotten because he has been so good. His two interceptions came in Cowboys territory, including one into the end zone. You're not going to make those mistakes and win in the NFL, and the picks cost the Chargers a shot at what would have been a nice win.

Walter Cherepinsky - Walter Football 10 (LW 7)
The Chargers would've won a fair game against the Cowboys, but horrible officiating seemed to negate all of their big plays. They'll be getting Chris Harris back from injury soon, which will help matters.

The Chargers lost to the Cowboys because they couldn't get out of their own way. Los Angeles committed 12 penalties for 99 yards, with two of those infractions negating touchdowns. Some of the penalties could charitably be defined as borderline, but legitimate contenders find a way to rise above these challenges, and the Bolts aren't there -- at least not yet. Justin Herbert wasn't immune to mistakes, either. The second-year quarterback threw a pair of interceptions, but he also made a number of brilliant throws that keeps the arrow up on his young career. "Justin Herbert was outstanding," Brandon Staley said after the game. "He was the best player on the field."

Pete Prisco - CBS Sports 18 (LW 15)
They just didn't do enough on offense against a depleted Cowboys defense last week. The penalties also killed them.

The new-look Chargers looked like the same-old Chargers on Sunday. Maybe they are.

The Bolts pulled out a victory at Washington last week and now returned home to face a second straight NFC East opponent in the Cowboys. Once again, quarterback Justin Herbert put up some big numbers, throwing for 338 yards and finding Mike Williams for a score.
But he also absorbed three sacks and served up a pair of interceptions. And the Chargers defense had their issues with the Dallas™ ground attack to the tune of 198 yards on 31 carries.

Can't lose that game to the Cowboys. Justin Herbert and Co. gave one away.
