There's something horribly wrong with Vizzy's technique when he hooks it that badly on PAT's...

Jake Verity. And it needs to be done quick because other teams are looking at him as well. He’s been trained by Justin Tucker (GOAT kicker) the last 5 months and is basically seen as Tucker’s prodigy.

We know the Ravens have good taste in kickers, it’s a no brainer move.
Tom Telesco’s Results in 9 years as Chargers GM:

      - 69-74 record
      - 0 division titles in 9 yrs as GM
      - Worst record among all active GMs with same tenure
      - 6th worst winning percentage among all active GMs overall
      - 2 playoff wins despite elite QB all 9 yrs
      - Team still has the same weaknesses (Oline and run defense) that it had when hired as GM in 2013
      - Consistently puts together horrible depth, expects starters to never miss games

Verity only kicked 75% figgies in 4 years in college...BUT if he was coached up by Tucker, and since he had a solid preseason, I'd be willing to give the kid a shot...sure don't want to go the rest of the season with Dizzy Vizzy...

Sounds like you are replacing one gamble with another.

Well, the Ravens did NOT put Verity on the Protected PS this past week...we'll see what they do week 6...

I thought the same thing at the time. My first reaction was “oh god” but then I thought it might cause Cleveland to go conservative, because the Chargers were not stopping them much today.

It worked out today with his miss.

The catch is do you think if the situation demanded a kick late in the game with very little or no time, do you trust Viz to make it? Do you trust anyone else on that list? Presumably some of the older guys on the list have the consistency (or did) but you have to wonder what is each guys deal. Long can handle the KO if necessary, he did when he filled in for Bagley.

There is also the thought of having Long do the kicking and punting. I am not sure it would be any better than Viz, but at least it would be the advantage of saving a roster spot, particularly if the "other" kicker isn't much of an improvement and you would have to do roster shuffling.

Sometimes the misses are due to the hold or snap. I didn't see anything obvious today, but watching the all-22 from KC (both kicks), there was no problem with either the hold or snap on either play.

Viz just got around the ball too much, and it went off to the left. Same thing happened today, although the all-22 film doesn't come out for another day or two to be sure.

Didn't Long get injured before when the Bolts used him for kickoffs? Uses some different leg muscles which could affect punting...

That’s fine at least it’s a different gamble.

Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is well…you already know the answer to that.

Definitely by design, they are trying to pin the other team inside the 20, using the high arc kickoff. That's fine, but our coverage isn't up to speed.
