    Storm Norton

    From ESPN
    7. Los Angeles Chargers (4-1)

    Previous ranking: 9

Most improved player: OT Storm Norton

How they've improved: Norton was previously in the XFL but now is the Chargers' starting right tackle because of an injury to Bryan Bulaga. Norton stumbled in his first start but has risen up the ranks, as he is currently the Chargers' No. 2-ranked offensive lineman per Pro Football Focus. He was given a game ball by Chargers coach Brandon Staley after Sunday's win over the Browns. Staley believes in the 6-foot-8, 308-pound Norton, as does Justin Herbert, who saw Norton standing up Cleveland's Myles Garrett. He wasn't perfect, giving up a sack to the NFL's sack leader, but he has proved to be reliable. -- Shelley Smith

I'll be the first to eat crow from earlier this season, and say I'm pleased to see Stormin' Norton's stock is up...Staley & staff deserve big time credit for coaching him up...I've heard Bulaga has also helped him...

He had a decent game - finally, which is good, but PFF's 2nd ranked Chargers Olineman?

He's played better than Lindsley, Feiler, Oboushi?

His contract is up this year - $12 - 14 million per year pay raise?

I hate to say this, but having a cheap OL is beneficial to a team as long as they provide decent play. 5 expensive OL can kill the cap. And I think TT is a fan of a cheap OL, it would explain why he never invested enough in it.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

He's invested a lot of resources in it, unfortunately until now they didn't pan out.

For the CLE game, not the season. He's still the 5th ranked for the season.

It would explain why he made Linsley the highest paid OC in football (until Ragnow’s new deal came along). Also why he gave Okung 53 mill over 4 years. Thankfully he didn’t put out big money for Orlando Franklin or Bulaga. Then there’s his minimal investment of 2 first round picks, 1 second rounder, 4 third round picks, and a single 5th rounder via the draft since he’s taken over.

TT has absolutely sucked at getting quality OL in, no doubt about it. But to say he hasn’t invested in the position group would be incorrect.

Storm is huge - 6-7, 315 lbs - but his body doesn't seem to have much muscle, just kind of roly-poly. I hope he is developing into a serviceable OL though. Bulaga needs to return though, we need a veteran starter on that side. I don't know if one of them can slide into the RG slot when/if Bulaga returns. Aboushi is on a 1-year contract.

He doesn't look like a football player at all. But he has improved a lot. This coaching staff is really impressive in a lot of ways.
