I’m actually surprised we didn’t pull a 2017 Buffalo and let Telesco go after the draft. But maybe TT will be better under Staley?

The difference being the bills hadn’t drafted the OROY in 2016. Heck in ‘16 TT drafted the DROY.

I was just looking at him after he was cut as a possible return man option. That is a significant signing by us, though his numbers are down this year somewhat.

It's only 6 games in. He may have started a bit slow after resting all pre season. And maybe he has lost a step.
But he still improves the Chargers return game and field position.

Chargers avg 16.7 per kickoff return this year.
Roberts avg 21.4 per kickoff return this year.
So you get almost 5 yards there. This means you are unlikely to start inside your 20. Chargers have done that way too often.

Hill 6.8 punt return on 12 returns.
Roberts 4.1 punt return on 8 returns.
So you lose almost 3 there, but Andre won't let it bounce and just not field the punt like Hill does too much and give up a bunch of yards there. So you gain yards that don't show up in stats.
If they added in lost yards by not fielding the punt to Hill avg. Hill would probably be zero or negative yard avg

Also it only take one big return for Roberts PR avg to double.

So they way I see it, Roberts will put Chargers in better field position after kickoffs and punts. And is still more likely to break for a TD than Hill would be.

Its just crazy to me that every season.....returner....kicking.....IDL....Run game etc....Telsco and the coaches go with mediocrity. I wish a reporter who covers the bolts would ask Telesco why they are ok with a bad kicker....a lack of return game....suspect run game after Ekeler....and Storm/Pipkins liability issues? As well as the lack of run stopping. Year after year. Why do we not seem to care about these things? Why are we ok with mediocrity. You are right 100%. Unfortunately the bottom line is that he just isn’t a good GM. He makes some nice picks but his overall body of work and his actual results speaks for itself. 2 playoff teams in 9 years despite having elite play at the most sacred and important position in football, QB.

It took him 9 years to finally put together a half decent OL. It may take him another 9 years to fix the DL and then another 9 years for the STs. His fanboys club just isn’t seeing it but im glad more and more Chargers fans are at seeing how poor Telesco is at constructing a roster.

The team is 4-2, in 1st place in the division, has already defeated two division rivals with no division losses, is tied for the best record in the conference and is No. 2 in playoff standings. Despite that, we have fans who are livid and can't stop complaining. SMH

Uh oh. Roberts had/has? A bum knee that kept him out of training camp and needed periodic draining. A report I read from Bleacher Report said the injury appears to have ‘robbed him of his explosiveness’ and is why his return numbers are pedestrian to poor so far this season. Hoping he is ok

He’ll have to pass a physical so I’m sure his knee will be thoroughly checked.

That's 2 playoffs in 8 years - this is year 9.
I agree with you on the qb position: big advantage having borderline HOF qb play....the teams he constructed around Rivers were not that good.

His contract is up within the next few years.....needs to deliver.

Yes, I am complaining but also pointing out areas that need improvement. Telesco can choose to not improve the roster. Or, he can look and see how much cap space he has, without having to change one contract, the extra draft picks and possibly try to IMPROVE the roster. The Colts today had to kick the can on TY Hilton just to get cap space to play out the rest of the year. Other teams have done this. Arizona had to create cap space to get Ertz. The Chargers do not need too unless they make a trade nobody sees coming.

So fine you want to say I am complaining - thats fair. But, like you said, the team is 4-2 and in first place, so why not try to make small strategic moves that will keep the team winning and in first place.
