Roberts shows that it is more than just speed or fearlessness. There actually is some skill and vision and patience involved in returning kicks. And he keeps getting better, and so does the blocking unit, each game it seems. He should have had a TD against the chiefs but lost his balance without being touched. So many times this team signed returners -- Benjamin, Jacoby Jones, etc that were probowl on their prior team only to crash and burn for us. So nice to see Roberts excel.

So Belicheck should get no credit for Matthew Judon or Wes Welker? Buccaneers no credit for signing Brady and getting a superbowl? Steelers get no credit for Jerome Bettis? When the Chargers traded for Chuck Muncie and Wes Chandler, Johnny Sanders was just lucky and they fell in his lap? I don't think your measure is a good one. Its about knowing your team and acquiring players that will make your team be more successful, regardless of where they come from.

Now, mind you, not arguing that Telesco has a mediocre win-loss record. You are dead right about that.

He didn't? So identifying a high caliber return man and signing him isn't considered a move? So you're saying he's only responsible for draft picks? Was Ekeler a good signing? Bosa? Linval? Derwin? Herbert? Even Mike Williams? Sorry man again, I am all for fairness. I am on the fence to be honest. I don't think there is enough there to fire him. This is a big HUGE offseason. We are 1 game away from the playoff. If TT goes all in on the D this offseason like he did the Oline last off season. You're suddenly looking at deep playoff runs for the next decade. I'm really not worried about our GM.

I was elated that he had that TD Kick return in the Denver game, but I wasn't going to put him in the pro bowl just because of it. The level of play before he came on board was atrocious, carrying over from last year's disaster. But this fumble set the tone for the game. We'll see if they bring him back, he's worth it I think.

Unless you have an absolute upgrade, Roberts brought a much-needed upgrade and stability to the carousel roster spot Reyrn men we have had. I am good with him returning.

We could always stop building the roster on paper, bring them into camp and let them actually compete. Then, if he is a best return guy (orone of our top 5 or 6 WR), he stays, if not release him.

Give him a 2 year deal that we can get out of in 1 if needed. This is a no brainer decision….guy was tough and has great vision and wheels. He has another year if not two in those legs. Hire and move on to getting the rest of the ST unit fixed….a replacement for Long would be nice…i think he just isnt a strength in any way.

Are we keeping AR? He was one of the best things about the 2021 season.

I wonder if that's one of the decisions that got Swinton fired?

That was speculation from that Chargers podcast I posted about last week.
There's likely more, but the thought is that Staley and Lombardi didn't feel good about giving up their speed guy because Swinton said he couldn't play ST.
Swinton was already having to play lots of inexperienced rookies, so Staley trusted him on this.
If that's true, that forced fumble no doubt encapsulates the irony and subsequent firing.

edit: but seriously, if we're looking for a speed wr
