I get that the short pass game can be highly effective, eating up the clock, long drives, giving your D a breather, etc....BUT...if they're stacking the box on you, you have to throw it deep or medium-deep a few times until they drop back the LB's more, and especially, drop back their safeties...
I would like to see - especially if they stack the box -- audible to keep Ek or the RB plus a TE like Anderson blocking, three wides - and send a couple guys deep
When Lombo keeps dialing up mostly short and perimeter passes, it doesn't take opposing teams too long how to shut down that game plan. They do it by stacking the box most of the time. Our playcalling vs. the box is so ridiculous and predictable. Come on, Lombo! Is that the best u can do? Gotta STRETCH the D, for crying out loud, with the LONG BALL! HELLO!!!!!!!
Look how much the Vikes stacked the box against us, like this incomplete to Mike Will, with a PI for us:
Awful game planning and adjustments by Lombo and Staley both.
I was screaming that all day sunday. Did Lombardi not watch how far he ;;could throw off of his back foot last year. My god. I hope gets with the program. I think Herbert is even frustrated.
Thanks. One thing I forgot to mention is that stacking the box really takes away the Bolt ground game...they're just daring us to throw long...and Herbie is one of the best long ball slingers in the league...come on, Lombo, use yer talent!!!!!
Probably thought, and I don't blame them, that the Chargers couldn't hold the rush off long enough for a long pass to develop.
