    Welcome Austin Johnson DT

Charger agreed to terms with DT Austin Johnson, formerly of the Giants.

A run-plugger, Johnson should be a worthy reinforcement for a Chargers defense that got destroyed on the ground in 2021. Highly durable, Johnson also tallied a career-high three sacks last season. He had never played more than 400 snaps before logging 665 in 2021, but that workload could be dialed back to early-down specialist levels in Los Angeles.

Good run stuffing DT, not much in the way of a pass rusher. I guess the combo of him and Tillery would work out okay.

Former 2nd rounder by the Titans. And yeah it looks like he broke out a little last year. I like that he can get close to 700 snaps for the Giants and play Nose.

            145. Austin Johnson, DL, New York Giants (28)

He was a 17-game starter last season and set career highs with 3.5 sacks, seven quarterback hits and 72 tackles (six for loss). Johnson should get a chance to compete for a starting defensive tackle job somewhere.

Awesome if the price is right, some here have mentioned him as a possibility.

                  Tennessee Titans[edit]

The Tennessee Titans selected Johnson in the second round (43rd overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.[13] He was the sixth defensive tackle selected and the first of five Penn State players drafted.[14]

On May 9, 2016, the Titans signed Johnson to a four-year, $5.66 million contract with $3.02 million guaranteed and a signing bonus of $2.31 million.[15][16]

Johnson entered training camp competing for the starting nose tackle position with Al Woods and Antwaun Woods.[17] He was named the backup nose tackle to veteran Al Woods to begin the regular season.[18]

Johnson made his NFL debut in the Titans' season opener against the Minnesota Vikings and made one tackle in the 25–16 loss. During a Week 11 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts, he made two solo tackles and was credited with half a sack on Andrew Luck, as the Titans lost 24–17. On December 18, 2016, he made a season-high four combined tackles during a 19-17 road victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.

As a rookie in 2016, Johnson appeared in 10 games and finished with 15 tackles and a half-sack.[19]

In the 2019 season, Johnson appeared in 16 games, starting one. He had 23 total tackles and no sacks for the first time in his career.

                  New York Giants[edit]

On March 30, 2020, Johnson was signed by the New York Giants.[20]

In Week 4 against the Los Angeles Rams, Johnson recorded his first sack and forced fumble as a Giant during the 17–9 loss. [21]

                  On March 17, 2021, Johnson re-signed with the Giants.[22]

Curious about the numbers. On Twitter, Giants fans aren't happy about losing him. Which I'll take as a good sign.

Perfectly fine rotation piece on the DL but I want to see the numbers. Seems less likely now that we sign another DT like Joseph-Day and also go with Davis at #17.

He's coming here to play NT, I hope Tillery sees all his time at 3-4 DE outside of long yardage passing downs.
