Why let go of Roberts? He was a all pro last season and should have been given a chance to see what he does this season. Hopefully Carter is not a downgrade because its been a miss for us at KR/PR role for a while. King and Roberts being the only exceptions and in King's case he got worse after 2018.

Carter is well traveled. I would guess that the new Special Teams Coordinator wanted him vs. Roberts.

My guess is Roberts wanted to cash in on his second team allpro nod...younger, cheaper, ascending player who offers wide receiver depth...fine by me.
              The TPB makes plans....

              And Jim Harbaugh laughs...

Nice. He can flip the field position and even get you a TD.
Can be depth at slot WR too.
Like Roberts and many other returners he is going put it on the ground once of twice during the 17 game season. When it happens is hopefully in regular season games and early in the game.
                  For reference in their careers.
Carter has lost 3 of 12 fumbles.
Roberts has lost 10 of 24 fumbles.
Who has it better than us?

Slightly worse returner but provides some actual WR skills on the backend of the roster unlike Roberts. If he finds his way onto the field with the offense it isn’t a sure sign of a sweep like it was with Roberts.

Is it just me or does he run pretty duck footed with his toes pointing out?
