Darrell Green, HOF CB for the Redskins was 5'9" and very, very few passes got completed against him in a career that lasted almost 20 years. Ronde Barber (HOF CB/S for Bucs) also was 5'9" and he ran a 4.68 40 at the combine (his pro day wasn't much better) and he played from 1997 to 2012, and was the active leader for defensive TD scored when he retired. Green had world class speed, and Barber was really, really quick. But had elite technique, and played really, really smart.
Too much emphasis is made on physical ability sometimes, and shortcomings can be overcome by great technique and how fast a player can process the game going on around them.

Derwin is a good example, but having another one wouldn't hurt. And a guy like Bryce Callahan, a guy who is not overly gifted is a good example of how less talented guys can overcome their limitations through technique and preparation.
