        Marketing can grow a fan base.
        Large fan base gives good home field advantage
        Home field advantage has helped win close games in NFL.
        Chargers are known for close games.

          If we are dependent on the people who made the greatest schedule release ever to make plays on the field I think perspective has been lost. Their job is basically advertising and PR. That's their focus because its their job. The players play not Brian from accounting.

            The Raiders have not won in 25 years but are still popular in L.A. Why? Marketing.

                You couldn’t be more wrong mate. The Raiders won the only Super Bowl for Los Angeles (until a few months ago.) That is why they have remained popular in L.A. Marketing int the NFL is mostly bullshit. Winning is the only effective marketing ploy in the NFL.

                  Sorry mate, this just isn’t true. The Chargers can spend a billion dollars on marketing and it won’t grow the fan base one iota. The Chargers will still have fewer fans in their own stadium than the visiting team. The only thing that will grow the Chargers fan base in LA is winning. Everything else is B.S. Winning is the only thing that is going to get LA locals excited about the Chargers.

                    Here all along I thought the NFL was a business.
                    Not even sure what I'm doing on this forum if I'm not helping the Chargers win.
                    Why am I using up all this energy and resources?

                    If only I could do something useful.
                    Marketing is keeping this team from a championship.

                    I don't understand anime or marketing of any kind
                    so it's obviously a waste of time.
                    I'm old. Everything sucks.

                      I’m not into anime so i skipped to the last page so my browser wouldn’t show this thread as a new one i need to read. I hope it goes away soon. anime bores me and any posts unrelated to anime that are actually football can go to a different thread.

                      We had 4 different versions of roster+draft+FA, all 4 talking about the exact same things, after all.

                      hope this one dies painfully and quickly.

                        As I previously stated, marketing can help attract new fans as well keep current fans in engaged, but winning long term on the field guarantees we keep those fans. They’re two separate things but important in their own way. Not that difficult to comprehend. If anything, the marketing team is pulling their weight. We need the actual team to do it now.
