This is the NFL - there are no meaningless games - NONE.
Also, our QB's injury is not the type of injury that leaves him likely to have something worse happen if he plays. If it was a broken rib, which can develop into a punctured lung, that would be different. With the injury Herbert has, his only danger, if he takes a bad hit to the area, is he'll be in pain, but his life or career will not be in jeopardy.

All I know is that the Bolts (aka the Jags of last year) thumped the Bengals in their very own house last year 41-22. And nobody expected the Bengals to make it to the Super Bowl, esp with that O-Line. Anything is possible.

I think the bigger issue would be control versus salary. Since AJ and Marty left at GM and HC respectively, Dean and John Spanos have only hired coaches and a GM that are yes men.

Spanii think they know more than the professionals and won’t give up that control.

Paying coaches doesn't go against the salary cap but Dean isn't paying a HC that much.
