This would lead me to believe a deal is really close and If I were Derwin I would sit out as well. He'll be fine to ramp it up in a week or so later than everyone else. At least he is there unlike some others trying to renegotiate with other teams.

Sounds like it’s close. I still think he plays this season even if nothing gets done.

It's a little frustrating... I keep hearing 'close' for a month now, at least. But, training camp starts in earnest Monday. Hopefully they get this done over the weekend.

He’s making sure Woods can get some extra reps early on. Team player all the way.

Agreed. And James - much as I love the guy's talent - hasn't managed to put together 2 healthy, productive seasons in a row since he was drafted. Not that I'm wishing we do anything but re-sign him, but I wonder if the two sides are at odds over an extension in regards to what James thinks he's worth (based on talent and potential) and what the Chargers think he's worth (based on his health history and overall productivity in his rookie contract).

                      I wouldn't sign him.

You're going to sign him to a big contract and he's going to be constantly injured.

                      He's not getting anything younger
