First Quarter of Season Studs and Duds

Yes, I know there is no longer an official "first quarter" (17 games). But, hey, close enough. Here are my votes (which may be better called "Surprising" Studs)

    STUDS:

DeAndre Carter: Yes, the fumble he coughed up today almost removed him from this list, but wow has he been a HUGE surprise as a receiver, making some big catches for us.
Bryce Callahan: He's the slot defender, and he's been an absolute stud at it. Probably our most consistent DB.
Dustin Hopkins: Consistently sends kickoffs into (our out of) the endzone. Hits his XP and most of his FG (one miss).
Khalil Mack: He's upgraded our defense in both the run and passing game AND he's made some big time plays when needed most. Psst - He already has 5 sacks!
Gerald Everett: Would love to see him with a fully healthy Herbert and with Keenan drawing some of the defensive attention.

    DUDS:

Sony Michel: Though, to be fair, the entire running game has been atrocious. And this is more an indictment on the coaches who keep feeding him.
Chris Rumph: Would love to see him make it onto the stat sheet (and make a difference in a game).
Josh Palmer: Nothing of note in these first four games. Thought he'd take it up a notch, especially now that Keenan is off the field.
Joe Lombardi: I watch KC keep the gas pedal on all game against the Bucs. I watch Joe go 3-and-out for multiple drives a game, usually in the second half. I see KC (and others) moving players around pre-snap, getting creative with their looks and movements. Ours is basically line it up, and run for 0 yards.

Add Pipkins to the studs list.
Like many, I lost faith after his brief appearances
he's proven to be a starting caliber RT
Hope we re sign him to a team friendly deal.
    Gimmie Bower Power!!

studs >> Zion, Asante, Derwin, Bosa, Khalil, JH, Ek, Kelley, Linsley, Slater, MW, DeAndre Carter, Guyton, Joe Day, Callahan, Hopkins, JK Scott, Everett, Bandy, Richard Rodgers, Salyer

duds >> Clapp, Storm, Aboushi, Lombo, Staley, John Spanos, Tom Telesco, JC Jack, Brenden Jaimes, Sony, Jason Moore, Palmer, Parham, Spiller, JT Woods, Tevaughn, Rountree, Mark Webb

we are fortunate to have won the two games we have, and.... shoulda, woulda, coulda had the win over KC.... Oline needs to gel and Stalombo needs to unleash the longball.

let Bandy/Ek handle the short to intermediate routes, and send MW/Carter on the intermediate/deep routes.... Palmer is the change of pace/safety valve

team Tommy John left this roster exposed/vulnerable, and regardless.... Stalombo needs to bring 'er home.... better personnel decisions, starting w/Salyer + Kelley + Bandy + Reeder + DC
RT Taliese Fuaga, DT Jer'Zhan Newton, NT T'Vondre Sweat, LB Cedric Gray, TE Ben Sinnott, RB Daijun Edwards, FS Cole Bishop, QB Joe Milton

They should have had Bandy in from game 1 to add a spark. Lucky another team didnt pick him up. And NEVER give the ball in the red zone to RB3 that Laimbo liked to do last year when we have Ekler. Let some of the rookies play on OL and DL , cant hurt vs playing Tillery and Norton.
Maybe add Feiler to that list.
And give Horvath a chance. Couldnt be worse than Michel and Kelly.

How about our punter I think he was decent, also there is no holding problem nowadays.

It's a bit premature too label Rumph a dud, don't you think?

A number of your duds are not on the team? I am sorry but don't know who Joe Day is?
Like, how am I a traitor? Your team are traitors.

                Studs:
Joe Lombardi - Schemed an excellent game yesterday to help out Salyer in his first NFL start at LT, yet the offense racked up 426 yds of offense, scored 4 TDs and didn't turn the ball over. The offense is on track to be a top 5 unit again.
Herbert - Nothing needs to be said.
Ekeler - Took him awhile, but it looks like he's back on track.
Bryce Callahan - What a great FA addition.
Gerald Everett - The pick six incident aside, he has been much better than I ever expected.
DeAndre Carter - The fumbled kick off return yesterday aside, he's been a stud and also better than expected.
Drue Tranquill - He seems to be blossoming this season.
Kahlil Mack - by no means last. He's been as good as we could've hoped, he was a force yesterday even without Bosa on the other side.

                Duds:
JC Jackson - hopefully he improves, but so far he has not show why he deserved the contract they gave him
Feiler - Inexplicably stinking it up at LG
Palmer - I expected him to step and fill KA's shoes, when they double MW Palmer has to make them pay. So far he has not done that.
The run game - I kind of wish they didn't sign Michel, it would force them to see what they've got in Spiller.

Dud - the decision by Brandon Staley to not take Everett out or change the play

Not saying they win that game - but that was a game changing play

Also not using Ekeler in the red zone before yesterday
