    This.
You see DB's do this a great deal more( or at least we should!) since they're the last line of defense.
In that situation, K9 showed poor awareness. As you say, he should have broken down and absorbed a hit in order to stop Connor.

Absorbed a hit? Make a hit

Even knocking him out of bounds would have been good.

There’s the angle, no pun intended. Ok, maybe i did intend to pun it.

All he had to do was knock him out of bounds. He had the sideline as defender 2 thru 11. don’t be a dumbass warrior hero and launchwhiff, just quickly close on him while narrowing the space and keeping him to the sideline and push him out.

I’m not a pro football guru, expert analyst, or savvy talent evaluator like too many TPBers are (cough), but my coach taught me that much when I played LB in pop fucking warner.

45 deg to where he was. Will be when K9 gets in range? Who knows?
The sideline is the only help. Rb has majority control of the situation. Brakes, left, right, hurdle are RBs options. Granted, K9 appears to have committed too soon. Quality running backs live for that circumstance.

A safe tackle on that play would have stopped Conner at the 2 yard line
I prefer a player who try to make play
A TO was possible with a solid tackle and could have making Connor less efficient later in the game

I don’t buy any excuse for not making that stop, he’s a professional NFL linebacker for god’s sake. Certainly not buying the theory that his more aggressive whiff might have led to a TO so its all cool. I saw AZ linebackers making that tackle all game long.

Yeah.....trying to make a hit(like he did) puts him in a possibly bad spot, which is what happened.
Break down your stance, get low, let the runner make contact with you, take him down.
That close to the goal line, you need to make plays, not go for big ones.

Put Ekeler in same situation, I know he is getting that TD
