Film Study: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (week13 vs LVR)

Werlcome back diehards. This weeks loss to a division rival is never a good feeling. Watching film i saw many opportunities vanish as Herb had minimal time in the pocket. Our O-line really struggled in both the run and pass games. Quite a few plays Herb had to avoid pressure and his recievers were not ready for him to be rolling out but when they were ready, it was magic. Finally seeing Herb play action, roll out and run more showing he is healing and competing. A couple of mental errors on defense gave up big plays, which can be fixed. All is not lost.

    The Good:
1st quarter 5:18 on the clock, 3rd and 5 ball on 20yrd line
Chargers show 6 blitz but drop Tranqill into coverage and rush 5. Carr makes a bad read from great Chargers secondary coverage and ASJ jumps the route tipping the pass which is picked by Callahan and returned for 6. Great execution and instincts all around

    The Bad:
    3q 11:03 on the clock, 1st and 10 ball on 45yrd line
A simple mental error from ASJ forces Adderly to cover wide and Callahan cant keep up with Adams thinking he has help over the top. Although its a bad play and cost the team dearly this is fixable.

    The Ugly:
2nd quarter 8:01 on the clock, 2nd and 1 ball on 20yrd line
Raiders TD run right up the gut. From the very start the alignment is skewed where Chargers are overloading the left side of the O-line but Raiders are running it right. Seems like a perfect match for the offense. Chargers defense need to read this better and adjust pre-snap, i mean just look at the B gap over the RG. Essentially Chargers def took themselves out of the play before it began. Not sure if ASJ makes a "business" decision but the effort was poor.

    Honorable mentions:

    Hon1
Check out Herb pocket presence and avoid the hits while finding Allen for 1st down.

    Hon2
Another Herb rollout and great block from Everett allows him to hit crossing Bandy

    Bonus Content:
Herb gets a clean pocket and rolls right. Allen breaks off the route and makes a spectacular catch. This is what we have been missing all season.

Herb is healing, Allen is healing. There is still hope

    As always
    luv ya

That play for Jacobs TD. That was very ugly.
      Big mistake on alignment/assignment. SMH!
Who has it better than us?

Yep...I think the biggest blunder on that play was by Adderley...he's supposed to be the last line of defense in the middle...but no--instead of waiting for Jacobs to make his final cut and stopping him, Adderley runs right into the block by Hollins, who effectively takes him out of the play (red)...kind of reminds me of how K9 runs into blocks instead of staying clean to make a play...lame...

ASJ is a huge liability in the run game. Every week he has multiple plays like this where he just won't tackle anybody

The TD catch by Allen was not only a great catch but a great throw. Allen was covered pretty good but the ball could have been only caught by him.

I'm wondering if ASJ (yellow) stayed on the outside to protect against Jacobs cutting towards the sidelike...it almost looks like he's expecting Adderley (red) to avoid the block by Hollins and stop Jacobs...I think the bigger blunder was made by Adderley getting blocked out of the play and then falling down...look:
