I didn't want Covington back, he stunk last season. It's weird how some guys just don't get the chance to show but Fehoko has improved this season.

He's not the only one that's noticed. I've been praising him since after the Falcons game when I believe Austin Johnson succumbed to his season ending injury. Whenever he's been in, I've seen some good line control and run defense. Still, I'd want to draft Siaki Ika as another anchor to accompany him side-by-side. To my eye, SJD isn't all that great. From what I can tell, the line and linebackers behind it mesh better when Fehoko is there at NT, but it's a bit anecdotal.

Hell, I'm liking Joe Gaziano a lot out there too.

Hopefully, we sign as many UDFAs as possible next draft because we seem to almost always find some gems -- from Ekeler, to Davis, to Guyton, to T. Johnson, and A. Phillips all the way back to Gates, Dielman, Welker, S. Cooper, J. Tucker, Tolbert, and Osgood. Now we have Joe G. and Fehoko out there balling as well. Since the draft is a crap shoot, it's always better to boost your odds with more numbers.

If you watch those Baldinger clips, that is text book how the DL is supposed to play in the Fangio-Staley-light box defense. And I think you can see that it asks a lot of the DL.

I can't speak to Fangio/Staley style, but Fehoko, in those clips, is doing exactly what IDL are supposed to do every play- keep their big uglies off our LB's.
It seems such a simple philosophy that has unfortunately been lost to Charger DC's since, well, Jamal left.
Keep your LB's clean, they make plays at or near the line.
