Last year, TT/Staley had the option of signing a fairly good RG from FA.
But I think they saw several OG's in the draft that slotted to them (Kenyon Green, Zion Johnson).
This year, the obvious omission to the re-sign formula seems to be @slot (Callahan).
They've re-signed Fox... they brought in Kendricks (in place of Tranquill). Ostensibly, they drafted Adderly's replacement in JT Woods (jury still out).
    They restructured 4 contracts (2@WR, 2@EDGE).
Their only obvious need is @slot corner... and a position that has a big number of possible BPA's...
It just fits logically... and follows prior draft tendencies.

Sign a FA CB post draft?

They could. Or they could get a CB on a 5-year option contract.

          Good call!

Or just draft a cb from rounds 2 - 4.

One wild card in all this is JC Jackson.
          4 starting corners?
CBs only come out when injured; so the rookie 1rst round corner sits games 6 - end/post season.

Then they'll only get production from their 2nd round pick, maybe.
Telesco will be handing in his resignation in that case.
Hey, maybe he might hit on someone day 3?

I think if going defense, Edge is a bigger priority than Slot CB.

They will go 5-12 but Spanii will see improvements and give him an extension. Hell he probably already got one after last year - or I wouldn't be surprised.

                My last mock:

                21: R1 P21 CB Clark Phillips III - Utah
                54: R2 P23 EDGE Derick Hall - Auburn
                85: R3 P22 WR Nathaniel Dell - Houston
                125: R4 P23 RB Kendre Miller - TCU
                156: R5 P21 TE Josh Whyle - Cincinnati
                200: R6 P23 G Jon Gaines II - UCLA
                239: R7 P22 LB Amari Burney - Florida

CB: Mike Davis (1 year left on contract), ASJ (2 years left), Clark Phillips (possible 5 years), JCJackson (Probable PUP list), Ja'Sir (development still needed)
EDGE: Joey, Khalil, Hall, Rumph (still developing). Kyle Van Noy is also notably not re-signed.
WR: KA, MW, JP, Tank Dell (the desired speed and punt returner we need)
                RB: Eke, Kelley, Miller, Spiller
                TE: Everett, Whyle, Parham, McKitty

Instant starter @PON (Clark) and some very good talent/depth @EDGE, WR, RB, and TE

Last year they had a lot of money to spend in free agency.

So, i don't see their failure to sign a slot corner, or edge, this year as a sign of their direction round 1.

Right. I thikn its a playmaker on offense. That doesn't mean you pass on top tier talent at CB or Edge. Hell, even OT (say a Skoronski or Paris J drop). That said, a playmaker on offense at RB or WR would be the top of the wish list. Though - that can also happen in R2 - R4 but with Tommy's track record - it probably won't be Round 3

While I love seeing JCJ working hard... he hasn't taken one cut or plant on that knee as of yet. We're 2 weeks away from the draft. Roll the dice if you like.
If JCJ does recover fully (the odds are against him)... he can take over for Michael Davis (FA after 2023) in 2024.
The smart play is using JCJ only in case of an injury to a 2023 starter... which, as we well know, is a possibility.
You spent $80 million on a guy... only to rush him back?
The Nancies don't even think he's any good.

                        It hits all the buttons.

I like Derick Hall in the 2nd.
Don't know squat about half your players: Gaines can sub at center perhaps when Clapp gets blown up.

I wouldn't hate Clark Phillips, but it seems like you are just redrafting Samuel.
Not wild about his short arms and 33" vertical.

I don't see him taking away anyone vital on the Chief's offense, or pressuring Mahomes.

                        I wouldn't hate it, but .....

I dunno, depends who’s left, right? Leaning towards Gibbs cuz he can do things no one else in this draft can do. I know I know, not between-the-tackles dude but so what? Grab one later, Gibbs is a rare pkaymaking beast.
