I always thought turtling up was pussying out, like a turtle retreating inside its shell. Kneeling with two timeouts and 30 seconds with PR at QB is an example of this.

Marty's challenge of McCree's fumble was desperation, not pussying out.

That game against the Pats, Marty was just emotionally out of control to buck his awful playoff demons. That game against the Jets was similar. You couldn't go forward with that guy, even at 14-2. The failure there was (again) management's lack of decisiveness and unwillingness to spend (if necessary) to get a better coach than the one they were dumping.

If you go back and look at it objectively, you can always trace it back to the Spanoses.

MINNEAPOLIS -- There will be a time for historical perspective. Lord knows this franchise can squeeze one more self-inflicted loss into its well-worn lore.

On this night, however, I'm finding it difficult to look past the scene in the Minnesota Vikings' locker room minutes after their 10-9 wild-card playoff loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Place-kicker Blair Walsh, who missed a 27-yard field goal attempt that would have won the game, was sobbing.
Minny is trying to steal the Bolt's thunder.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
            The Wasted Decade is done.

I thought something similar last night, but the more I thought about it I realized that they haven't quite had what it takes at QB. Last night was a shitshow with Burfict, PacMan and the fumble, so QB wasn't as much of a factor in the ultimate outcome. But you wonder what the situation might've been with Dalton (worse? better?) or if they had a Rodgers, Brees or Rivers. Heck, even Alex Smith.

But back to Burfict and PacMan. Burfict seemingly had turned his whole story around. Big time contributor, Pro Bowler, reduced his bullshit. PacMan was offered a place on a winning team with limited responsibility in exchange for keeping a lower profile and keeping his nose clean. He largely had kept up his end of the bargain. What last night showed us is that in big stakes moments, talented knuckleheads can always be counted on to revert and knuckle no matter what they do to change their image and up their games during regular season. That's why you stay away from them. Not because they aren't talented and won't help you win games, but because when they when they are most needed they will undermine all the positives you have going for you.

Didn't see it, started my boycott early. But if Bengals just did what they always do by screwing it up in the playoffs, Pittsburgh also did what it does. There aren't many franchises that get such an easy path through the playoffs as the Steelers. Teams just seem to lie down for them.

It's almost as if it's rigged.

Steelers played last 6 games vs backup QBs.
