Will Herbert Sign a Long Term Deal This Off-Season?

............and how many players will we have to cut/traded to make that happen???.....or does Spanos wait another year to let prices rise even higher???

I assume that major issue will determine how FA and draft will be focused.....

    discuss....

    Was wondering the same thing.
get him cheaper than ever after a down/injures year.
But my guess is that they push off till next offseason when we move off some of our other big names.

    .005 Brock Bowers, TE/HB/SR Georgia
.037 Braden Fiske, DT Florida St.
    .069 Mike Sainristil, CB Michigan
    .105 Brenden Rice, WR USC
    .110 Mason McCormick, OG/OC S. Dakota St.
    .140 Zak Zinter, OG Michigan
    .181 Nehemiah Pritchett, CB Auburn
.225 Ainias Smith, WR Texas A&M
    .253 Carson Steele, RB UCLA

Josh Allen was signed after Year 2 and Herbert is coming up on Year 4 of his rookie contract. If Chargers wait until after Year 4, if I were Herbert, I would seriously consider FA and feel Chargers are not committed to him and winning. Tough decisions but if we have to cut high priced players to keep him, we have to. He's a generational player.

Allen's $43M average sounds like peanuts now.

Josh Allen contract and salary cap details, including signing bonus, guaranteed salary, dead money, roster bonuses, and contract history

They can structure the contract to give him the money now but it really kicks in next year

They should try to do something this offseason if they can.

sad as it is, dolts own Justin for at least a while with franchise tags. I dont have warm and fuzzy feelings with this meddling nepotistic ownership to hire the right people to run football...this isnt real estate, this is a NFL football team. proof is in the pudding by retaining telesconman...the dude who is a below avg GM, and having their son try to be the frontman of the team.

Hope they do this now....ASAP.... cap friewndly for a few years like the Mahones deal.... so we can still keep sopme other players..... but if we cannot afford players likew KA, PLEASE get picks for him!!! stop letting players leave for nada.... we need more draft p[icks and a coach willing to play rookie players.....because they are cheaper....

It's in the team's best interest to get Herbert locked up now before Burrow and Lamar sign their new deals. I'll go out on a limb and say yes, its done by training camp.

What if Herbert demands the unthinkable - a trade ..... Sure he can be tagged but .......

Now that would be a story. Do I see Herbert holding out ? Nope but what if .....

And Dean is exploring a sale in 2024....

I could see Dean leaving Herbert's fate to the next team owner if he loses the NFL's arbitration.

Me too. Would be a rotten cherry on top of his ugly legacy.
I'm in the, "show him commitment camp"
I'll trade both Bosa and Mack away for picks on weapons/OL if that would reassure Herbert.

Is Dean truly exploring a sale or is that when he can sell the team based on years since the move?

Dean probably doesn't have the cash to escrow the guaranteed portion of a Herbert extension.

Let's see if he can win a playoff game before giving him the bag
