Man this hurts. Being a former chewing tobacco guy im always thinking about oral and throat cancer. My ENT has repeatedly told me that cancer of the throat will almost always present itself visibly. Swelling etc. Also that these cancers are slow growing. It just sounds like Mortenson had simply not been feeling well. Nothing regarding anything visible. And its stage 4 so thats a later stage. Scary.

I have met Mort through his nephew Will when I wrote for Yahoo in the late 90s-early 2000s. Great guy, and a huge help to anyone who ever asked. Stage IV is very late, and I hope he can get through this.
I had early stage I throat cancer when I was 26 and the chemo was very harsh back then. Radiation destroyed my thyroid and caused a permanent dry throat, and for 3 years I had exteme difficulty swallowing my food.
My voice still suffered damage to the point it forced a different career path (I aint Mr Hoarse for nothin'), and I sincerely wish him the best.
MOJO for Mort.Dean Spanos Should Get Ass Cancer Of The Ass!
