Better vs run...great mentor in the lb room...could still see us add LB day 2, or middle rounds...
      The TPB makes plans....

      And Jim Harbaugh laughs...

At least by the 4rth round for sure, signing a short term guy like this? A lot of times it means you bought a year to draft a LB in 2023 so he can take over in 2024…

We can still go BPA @#21 in a draft with mostly developmental LBs.

          Three down LB.
Capable of staying in third and long.
          Experience, athleticism helps.

This is our very first FA signing this year.
Dispelling the repeated narrative that StaleyD does not value LB.

"We need to get off the field on third and managable yards for first down."
          Get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

            2 years younger than Wagner

137 tackles and better run stats than Tranquill. Former first team all pro. Team Captain. 100 + tackles 7 straight seasons. Maybe has declined a bit in pass coverage but i think a solid signing. Short term is the key with our cap situation.

I think I saw a stat comparing Kendricks to Tranquill... average depth of tackle. Kendricks was much better.
It was one of my gripes about Tranquill last year... slow to diagnose/react. Too many times chose the wrong gap to defend.
On 3rd-and-4 you want a LB that can read/react quickly. It could mean a difference of a couple yards. That's big on "3rd and manageable".

I like this move. The draft is loaded with off-ball LB's. But not too many true MIKE run-stoppers.

Apparently new Chargers LB coach (Jeff Howard) liked what he saw of Kendricks when Howard coached for the Vikings.

                  Kendricks adds leadership.
He'll wear the green dot if not JJ III.

Ho-hum...aging player at the most physical position in the sport. The end will be soon and sudden. Kind of reminds me of the Thomas Davis signing a few years ago. Without knowing numbers at all, I would think Tranq is still the better fit but in the process we trust!

The best thing we can do for this defense is put up 40 a game on offense and not blow entire halves by routinely going three and out. Honestly rather just cut Feiler and free up that 6M and draft an OT in the 1st 3 rounds. I still dont trust Pipkins. If he would take Feilers 6M so be it. 2M dead goes on the books. But im not giving Pip big money.

Tranquill makes tackles at an average depth of 4.9 yards. That is a problem on running downs and why it always is 2nd and 5 for the opponents. Kendricks 3.3

We are all always bitching about the run defence.
