Thank him for his play and help.

Still one way or another TT's lousy record for retaining draft picks is what it is. You would expect more from a 2nd rnd draft pick in terms of his play and tenure as ultimately, they let him walk as an UFA. The guy went to Delaware ,an FCS school, and not exactly a football factory either too so maybe football wasn't his career goal either.

They just signed Pipkins to a LT deal. They seem to see more in their draft picks than others do too.

Two key words in his statement: "Health" and "Business". It was a wise business move to keep his mental health intact. With the right people around him he can invest his millions, grow old to see his grandkids, not have suicidal thoughts, and talk about his NFL career to youth going through similar struggles he went through.

His decision was probably influenced greatly by the Damar Hamlin episode.
Didn't get a sufficient contract offer and decided to hang it up.

Is there a boatload of players retiring this offseason?

I guess Nasir will be the latest player who stayed a Charger his whole career.
