This kid feels just like Salyer. We suddenly have some solid O line depth. It's a good feeling to have.

As a comparison, Salyer had one start as a guard in college.

I love McFadden! He was an early favorite of mine.
Chargers ended up drafting 3 of my favorites (Henly, Davis, McFadden) in rounds 3-5.

He was a great down blocker from the OT position. It made him an easy OG projection.
He also got very good seals to the outside... and had the feet/body control to get to blocks on the 2nd level.
Bye-bye Jaimes... the OG position is solid!

The best part... if one of the OT's goes down, I think Salyer moves out to OT (ahead of Sarrell) and McFadden fills the OG position.
It's a really good idea to have versatile OL. I think we've achieved that.

The trend is building-- late round SEC interior offensive linemen, guys who are projections on the interior, since they primarily lined up at tackle in college.

Maybe we just got lucky with Salyer, and are now somewhat spoiled and anticipating an unreasonable degree of success for McFadden.

And maybe not. IMO, McFadden's already demonstrated that he has the temperament and desire that's required for success in the NFL. Now it's a matter of finding the right place for him. It stands to reason the Zion, Salyer or McFadden will eventually be the guy to take over for Corey Linsley, at center.

Sweet Jebus, just look at how the composition of the O-line is morphing into what figures to be an outstanding unit. More beef, please!
