Just watched the Hortiz presser. There was something interesting he said that no one has mentioned yet...

The WR group is getting deeper and deeper every year... and will continue to get deeper.
The 7-on-7 camps prepare players... the college game prepares players to be better receivers.

Players are coming out more polished.

He said that but last year's WR class compared to this was weak so it isn't going to be deeper every year.

We took the first WR at 21. He would be a mid second in this draft.

in other words..... like I have said, we dont need to jump on a top 3 DIVA WR..... like KC and NE have shown you can win multiple SB's..... with a great QB and average WR's.... as long as you have a great TE who gets you key first downs and redzone TD's..... and you can afford to keep them their entire careers!

yes.... but like Walsh said long ago.... WR's are a dime a dozen..... its about the QB and the system.... watch what happens to KA in CHI.....vs what MW will do with Rodgers as QB.....

There are very talented WR's deep in most drafts, if you choose right guy for the right system....last year the top kind of sucked but the mid range guys did really well in NFL....

Listened to the Chargers podcast today. They had some guy on from Reception/Perception. He studies wide receivers. He said QJ was in the bottom 20% when it comes to beating press or zone coverage. Just horrible. So bad hands and no ability to get open. TT really shit the bed with that pick.

bad part of TT's work is that QJ [played in a conference that refeuses to even atempt to play defense.... lol

I think QJ was drafted for his traits... not for his technique. He was unpolished... a developmental prospect that wasn't expected to start.
Having said that, if you take his last 6 games of the season, and extrapolate that over a 17 game season, then he was an 80-reception receiver.

IMO, last year was weaker at the top... but had good depth into the mid-rounds. Puka went in the 5th round.
Although small in stature, I had Tank Dell in the 3rd. One of the reasons I had him higher than most was the fact that he was a polished route runner.

I had QJ in the 2nd round... not because he was polished... but because he had traits. He needs to be developed. His stop/start, acceleration, and YAC are the traits that will make him good. We didn't use those traits to our advantage at all last year.

My two favorite WRs in the 2nd are Ricky Pearsall and Roman Wilson. Elite separators with good hands and speed to burn.

Denver is going to trade Surtain and valuable picks to someone to get their qb, this is inevitable.
so if it can help us, why not?
why let Surtain go to Arizona or anywhere else?
He's exactly the guy you happily pay a second contract to.
and sending JJMC to Denver is ideal because Jim and Jesse knows every inch of that man.
Unless, they truly believe he is a special qb, that is the only reason I don't consider trading with Denver.
Joe can't/won't do his job "scared". He has already shown he's not afraid to make bold, unpopular decisions (Allen).
I say do what (Joe) thinks is most beneficial for us and ifnthat means taking the risk that you arm a division rival with a franchise qb, so be it.
                      Chargers vs. Everyone

true!....maybe a great coaching staff can mold his immense physical talent into a great WR.....?
previous coaching staff sucked in many ways....
