The new kickoff rule (proposed) gives returners like DD an advantage (speed), could result in more return TDs, overall. The kicker would kick off from where he does now, but the rest of the players on the kicking team would line up downfield to avoid having players run at each other full speed. If the kick returner breaks through the first line of tacklers there's not going to be anyone behind him, and if he's got speed like DD nobody's going to catch him.

I think teams will start to abuse the onside kick rule as soon as the 4th quarter starts. I really think the kick-off should be inside the 30 yard line not the 20. Not kicking it past the 20 is some kind of fail so I don't know what happens there? Out to the 40? Just kicking it thru the end zone gets you to the 30 minimum.

Doesn't matter. They have to spend it either way and they chose not spend it on Keenan. Whatever the pay cut they offered it would only cover a couple of cheap players.

Maybe folks should stop looking for blame or a bad guy in this deal. Keenan took the money he was due, so what. Chargers couldn’t afford a $23M WR this year, so what. Business interests of the 2 parties diverged and they parted ways. Happens all the time.
