This is hearsay rumor from a Bears fan...said an unidentified AFC team is sniffing around Bagent, their #2...and they like Rypien, their #3, and might bite. Any speculation as to who that team is?

Assuming the 'hearsay' is true ..... and it probably isn't:

1. Strike out the Chiefs
2. Strike out Denver: Nix, Stidham, Zach Wilson

3. We know Las Vegas has a low grade of crap at that position ...... probably Telesco dumpster diving in his sleep.

agree that there are not 32 starting quality QB's in NFL......BUT there are many many backus that can pass the ball better than stick..... lol...not a high bar... lol

The question is: Can we find a guy we really like at a reasonable price or maybe a little better but a good fit cheap? I see us waiting for the draft as a 50/50 proposition.

Rex is a 6’5 247-pounder who played five seasons for the Cougars. His most productive season came in 2020 when he put up 37 receptions for 429 yards and a whopping 12 touchdowns. That’s the same number of scores he put up in his final three seasons combined. In all, he left BYU with 112 receptions for 1,385 yards and 24 scores.

The one massive red flag for Rex coming out in the draft this year was his very underwhelming athletic profile. At the BYU pro day, Rex ran a 4.94 in the forty-yard dash with 5.00 short shuttle and a 27-inch vertical. All numbers falling well below what the NFL is looking for in their tight end prospects. Stil, it’s worth noting that Rex was a productive member of the offense despite these shortcomings.

Occasionally, a player has enough 'football personality' that he can get by with being less athletic. I doubt very much that Rex stays for long, but his signing definitely sends a message to everybody in the TE room not named Will Dissly.

They did draft Samuel at #47 and Freiermuth went to the Steelers at #55. Freiermuth, 6-5 258lbs, had 500 yds receiving and caught 7 TD passes from Ben Roethlisberger, including one against the Chargers, in Ben's final season.

I've always discounted the theory that we have to devote a roster spot to a lousy incapable backup because our star genius QB needs this hack never-been, never-could, never-will mediocre QB to mentor him into how to be a star QB. Its not like John Elway, Peyton Manning, Bart Starr are sitting next to him mentoring him. WTF Do any of those mediocres know about being an elite NFL QB?

I didn't buy the Clemons argument but applying it to Stick is just ridiculous. Stick has been around the league less years than Herbie, he has literally been behind him every second of that time. He has not seen one single thing or experienced one single QB event that Herbie was not in front of him and doing. Stick has absolutely zero NFL pedigree or value to add to Herbie's success. hire another young coach who actually has NFL knowledge and experience if such a guy is needed to be Herbie's lunch buddy - which I doubt he even needs.

Backup QB roster spot is dedicated to a backup QB that can PLAY QB.

Nice to see some common sense . . . . . . . . . hopefully coaches and management feel the same
