NFL teams always have injuries and most of them have injury problems in some time. Marty's teams had some injury problems, too, but for the most part good players stayed healthy.

He was probably said that during a tough stretch. But the fact that he had been able to make joke on it you know that the situation wasn't really that bad. Plus the fact that we were winning under Marty. The losses under Marty, especially in the playoff, weren't due to injuries. The team was healthy in that NE game.

The injuries went north to another level during Norv era and is on another world in McCoy era. Good players can't stay healthy. Durable guys in college and on another team came here and suddenly got injured. The OL under Marty was dominated. The OL under Norv was getting shakier and the OL under McCoy just can't stay healthy.

It gets to the point where it's really inappropriate for a coach to make joke about the injuries in McCoy era. It's at a depressed level. Even the media and other fans take pity on us, lol. I don't recall the injury problems under Marty ever got to a point where it's noticed by fans and media. The injuries during those days weren't any different from other teams' injuries.

We have been one of the worst stunting, blitzing DL and LB groups for a long time. Now, the DL is much better rushing and stunting and Bosa is the kind of player who can make it happen. Reid and Liuget can also be good stunters, and did a good job vs Denver. Add in Brown's speed, and Liuget's combination of quickness and power, we could be very very good rushing. Then add in Bosa and Ingram can rush anywhere across the line, we can atack any part of a D, and shouldn't HAVE to blitz. I still would, but just that we can mix it up, but make teams have to account for our players on every play.

For us visual learners...here's a video to help further illustrate this particular point by Steve. BTW, for those wondering where Philon is...here ya go. Even with obvious holds on both plays (Reid on 1st play/Mebane on 2nd)...the Chargers Dline effort prevailed with wins over the oline. Faiders got away with a lot of holding during their game, the Donkos did not. Either way...if these young guys can stay healthy and the light bulb doesn't just flicker but actually turns on...this Chargers Dline rotation can be some kind of nice.
