    2024 NFL Draft - Day 1, Round 1 - 1st Round Post Draft Discussion

It's here, the first draft of the Harbaugh - Hortiz era. Draft opens at 8pm Eastern, Thursday 4/25/2024.

To watch, the draft will be broadcast on ABC, ESPN and NFL Network.

Spoiler rule... If you are on Twitter and know the pick, do not post the picks until it is announced on Live TV, Some do watch the thread as a chat, but don't want to be spoiled as they are watching on TV. Charger picks will have their own thread for initial analysis... same rule applies, don't post until the pick is announced.

The draft is here, the draft is here!!!!! I am so happy to dispense with silly season. I have read probably 200 mocks since the end of the season, some I agreed with and some I question if they were taking stupid pills. I think the trade down scenario is going to happen for us and the best plausible scenario that I like is 5 for 11, 23 & a 2025 3rd. I like it as it seems realistic. I have read trade scenarios postulated that boggle my mind. My favorite "areyoufugginkiddinme" trade was 5 for 11, 23 a 2025 1st AND Justin Jefferson. Yeeeaaahhhhh hoooookay.......... That's how a GM would get fired on draft day.

I think if we pull the trigger with Minny I see us go OT and the CB. I like Fuaga/DeJean but have seen Fautanu/Wiggins mock as well. Either way I like the combo of getting Justin and the run game more beef AND helping the CB room in the same round.

Thoughts for round one are I will not be surprised to see 11 - 12 OL go round 1 with a couple of centers in the mix (Powers-Johnson and Frazier). I would be mildly surprised but not upset if both the Broncos and Raiders pass on a round 1 QB. I would also not be surprised to see one or both jump up to try and get QB4 or 5 off the board. It will make for a very interesting first round. While I know Bowers won't go top 5, I believe there is no way he gets past 10, maybe 7 to the Titans or even the Giants at 6. I mean, who wouldn't want that man beef on their line of scrimmage. Would I be upset if we dropped 5 on him? Nope as I have watched literally every game of his at JoJa and have drooled over the prospect of him in powder blues. My last thought is that I do not want to see Ladd McConkey in the AFC West. He has been mocked a ton to the Chiefs, and I would just rather not have to deal with him 2 or possibly 3 times a year if we could avoid it.

Well let's bring it Joe & Jim. I am on board with whatever they do..........It is TIME for a new era to shine!!!!!

We're going trench warfare and we're going to love it.

My head/heart/gut all say OL, be it with a trade down or not.

If the pick at #5 is Alabama RT J.C. Latham (as currently rumored), I can't help but notice the irony, that Tom Telesco's first ever pick as Chargers' GM was Alabama RT D.J. Fluker.

I'm great with selecting an O-lineman... but AFTER-- and only after-- trading down.

Would love to do so but I don't think Hortiz will get a good enough offer he likes. So we should all be prepared for any of the OL at #5...

No trade down, Mccarthy falls. Napa, Californias own Brock Bowers stays on the west coast & becomes our next hall of fame tight end. Harbaugh will get up there and say, "There was never a doubt!" 15 years from now people wlll wonder why there was ever a doubt.
