My current thoughts are that the 2024 GRo offense will be something new, and something that takes full advantage of the skills of the players we have assembled.

I do not expect vintage Roman.
    We play modern Harball.

My comp for Ladd is a younger, faster KA. Ladd is going to be that WR Herbert is looking for when they need a 1st down. His ability to get open is going to be security blanket for Herbert. If the 2 of them can get good chemistry together during training camp, watch out...lol
Time to put my money where my mouth is: Hampton will be better than Jeanty!

You just attempted to compare and sell me he has more similarities to Garrett Wilson who was a Top-10 NFL draft pick than to Julian Edelman. When I posted the exact side by side measurables for you to see. This is exactly my point. There are no similarities between these two players (Wilson/Ladd) in terms of talent, style and play. Garrett Wilson is a bona fide Elite WR#1 and was drafted as such. Ladd was a 2nd round pick and wasn't considered by the Chargers or any other team as a Top-10 qualified pick.

Actually, the term #1 WR is well defined by the league if you simply look at the pay scale. Julian Edelman for his 12-year career averaged only $3.5 million in true guaranteed money per year over his career because he was a Slot Receiver.

As far as Ladd being a Slot receiver? I stand by this and you will soon see. He doesn't have the strength or length to play outside in the NFL and the whole "SEC has the best" thing is a college football fan take. It's not reality when it comes down to it. Multiple schools around college at various times have produced a line of successful DB's with most recently Ohio State and Washington. The whole "X" conference is the best conference for players is an old Media hype take that is for the gullible college fans that feed the ESPN money train. (They own the SEC Conference TV rights)

The problem with Ladd McConkey that's going on with his new fanbase is all the "projection" based on such a small sample size. For instance, he such a dynamic separator and can beat these "Top-Corners in the SEC" on the outside and un-guardable essentially and blazing fast and plays at this uber-speed all the time and yet when I look at his film for the last 3 years and his stats starting with last year when it was just him and Brock Bowers as the primary targets for a "supposedly" 1st round 2025 QB, All I see is a measly 30 catches for 478 yards & 2 TD's.
The college production doesn't match the overall hype he gets on this board and from Charger fans on X.

I honestly think it's unfair to the kid because none of these people hyping him up will be accountable enough to admit it if he turns out to be what he most likely will be.

          I'll give another example:
This player below measurables are very similar to both Jules and Ladd. He's even faster than Ladd. I wonder if his career has panned out to the hype he received. He just signed today in Pittsburgh, and I bet he will do well there in his role.

          This is absurd.
          You post measurables to convince us that McConkey is an Edelman type player;
and when someone else reminds you that Garret Wilson's measurables are even closer, you dismiss it with a hand wave
          and start talking about style.

Big difference between a 4.39 combine 40 & a 4.52 pro day 40; that, by itself, puts McConkey into a different category of receivers.
Edelman ran away from no one, nor would he ever make the 1rst defender miss.

If he has Edleman qualities, that makes him all the more dangerous.

Yeah I didn't like the Edelman take either. Why... because he is a white guy who played the slot??

McConkey can do a lot more than play the slot and has a lot more speed and break away ability. Edelman was an effective weapon for Brady on short passes for sure. But it was death by 1000 cuts. 9 yards here, 6 yards here, 13 yards there....How many times did you see Edelman have catches that went for over 20 yards? Not many. Ladd has that ability in his game. Edelman had an 11 per yard catch average. McConkey had over 14 in college.

I forget who said it, maybe Jeremiah but my favorite comp for Edelman is Emmanuel Sanders. Sanders seemed like he could play the slot but also go outside. With the Broncos it seemed he was always catching a deep post route or a deep sideline route in addition to running the slot. I think Ladd can do those things. The other comp I liked is Lockett from Seattle. Again, similar size but ability to make big plays in the deeper passing game.

Good comparisons. Those are better than Edelman.

My favorite though is a mini Brock Bowers. Who said that, I think it was Harbaugh ?

                        With subpar QB's (at least compared to Herbert) . . . . . . . . . . . .
